Man o man has it been a rough first day and night.

Lets see where do I start. Monday night seem to go by so slow. Of course we woke up at 4 in the morning thinking it was later than it was (we are on a three hour time difference). But when it was time, we all gathered in the lobby and made our to the hospital. The drive didnt seem like it took that long but that could have been because we were all talking alot.

The hospital is small but very clean. I love the smell of the cleaning solution they use. We were taken to the admissions and quickly wisked away to have our labs done. After we were done, we came back upstairs and I started filling out my paperwork and soon after I finished, I had my ekg. I had requested to go first in order of surgery, but was told they go by the type of cases. And since my case was one of the easiest ones, I would probably go second or third. I dont know how it ended up this way, but I went first. Before the surgery, tons of nurses and doctors came in to speak with me abuot the procedure, what to expect, and tons of other information.

After about two hours, they came in and said they would be wheeling me back in 20 minutes. After I got in the back, he gave me some sleepy medicine and that is all I remember. I dont even remember laying in the recovery room or my mother talking to me while I was in there. I do remember being asked to slide from one bed to another. I was sleepy so I went right back to sleep after the transfer.

As time went by, I started to get sick so I got up and walked. The walking helped witht he gas pain but not the dry heaving...now that hurt.. I did that pretty much all night, every hour on the hour. Finally the nurses gave me something to help with that. I am stil have gas pain and feel like I may have the urge to throw up again, but it hasnt happened yet. I feel much better right now. No pain from my incisions at all. I do feel woozy and extremely weak at times but I was told to expect that.

Let me just say that all the doctors and nurses here are wonderful. There is a bit of a language barrier with some of the nurses, but nothing that couldnt be managed since I do know a little bit of spanish.... Today I have to have my first leak test...and I am hoping I can manage to get the yucky stuff down....

will update you again when I can

You have been on my mind, and I am SO glad to hear you are doing OK. Sorry about the nausea...I can't stand that when I am whole! I know how scared you were, so I am proud of you. I too am scared and excited. Most of all, ready to get it over with. Keep positive; just picture yourself in skinny jeans!!!!

Glad you posted. The driver dropped you off at the Marriott when they picked me up. I was very lucky that I had nothing the matter after surgery - I'm not kidding, but I had been through hell with the old lap band removal in January this year - so I had done my "penance" so to speak. I knew this would be easier for me.

The staff there with Dr Garcia are amazing, so sweet and patient - and the Dr himself was just so cute - I told him he didn't even do anything to me - and he really laughed - that is how I felt.

Like Sharon said try to enjoy your time down there - such a colourful place and warm people.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
