Started my pre-op regimen today. Using chocolate Creme Bariatrics Best supplement for the two Meal Replacement shakes. Bought the magic bullet to blend it up good....first 2 sips were weird - not bad for the rest. 1 - 8 ounce shake has 30g Protein and 1g sugar...... so 2 of those a day and a Protein and veggie dinner.....Hope to get me protein way high!

I still feel like it's a dream (or nightmare!) I ate an Arby's sandshich yesterday and was thinking....I will never have this again....

I am guzzling Water, I feel like I can't get enough water...and I know I will have to SIP forever.....freaking out!!

I will be okay - I know....

Weight this morning 306.4

I need to figure out how to put one of those cute little tickers on the bottom of this....it won't let me load before pics in the albums either!!! Technical advice would be great!!!

I had these same fears too. You are going through withdrawal from sugar and your mind is tricking you to feel deprived and "never going to be the same.". If you want to have an Arby's sandwich, eventually you will be able to. Just a half or something- but you probrably won't want to b/c your body isn't going to be ravinashly craving the sugar anymore. Your stomach feels like a normal person after and you don't find this need to pour everything in your mouth as fast as you can to get that full feeling. I was craving Mexican yesrerday and missing it. I had found refried Beans and melted cheese, tasted awesone and about 1/4 cup of food makes you thanksgiving full. So you feel totally satisfied. Think about when you are getting sick and you have that feeling of not wanting to eat. That's what it's like. You don't even really want that Arby's sandwich. It is VERY freeing.

I only had to do a 1 day pre-opt diet but realized that I really didn't need to eat all the food that I was eating and had cut my portion sizes down to half. It wasn't easy, but it helped with losing some of my weight. You will be able to have Arby's if you choose later on, but in smaller portions. You will make different choices too, like taking the bread off. The Protein is what I want, the bread doesn't taste that good anymore. I have passed my surgeon's goal, but my goal has not been met. But I do love my skinniness now! LOL Your thoughts are messing with you. Don't pay attention to them and switch your thinking to how much more energy you will have and how much more healthy you are going to be. Also, how much fun it will be to go shopping and have an abundance of clothes that are so darn cute, you will have a hard time choosing the cutest ones! The NSV's are great! ;)

I will have five days of liquids pre-op. I told my coordinator I as going to start earlier to jump-start my weight-loss and she advised against it, saying she felt it would be hard and I would be tempted to cheat toward the end. Hmmm. Anyway, you will make it through and all will be well!

My first time around was a nightmare! Two weeks of liquids with a 2 yr old who was concerned b/c I wasn't eating and kept offering me food. I would sit at the table with DH and DD and be in near tears while they ate and I drank.

This time, I'm having a hard time getting enough calories in. I'm hitting the Protein levels easy but low on the calorie side. NEVER thought I'd say that! LOL!! It's only been a couple of days and I've already lost almost 5lbs. (My band is sitting right below my Esophagus so eating is a chore.)

I do like this new way of the pre-op diet. Where you can have solids too, as long as it's low cal and lots of Protein. I drink shakes all day and then can sit and have some dinner with my family. Even if it's different than what they're having, I can eat with them.

It is so hard to restrict our eating habits when we are hungry all the time! I'm a true volume eater and I love food. I love to cook and make up recipes, etc. One good thing, I hate baking! Could you imagine if I liked baking stuff?! Oh Hello!!!!!

You are going to struggle during pre-op. I'm not going to say you aren't. BUT you have to remember why you are doing this and putting yourself thru this. By the time it's all over, you will realize what a great job you did keeping to it and it will be so very worth it!

Lots of best wishes!!!!

I'm taking the bariatic shakes and love them!! Especially the chocolate mousse lol. Trust me you will be looking forward to the shakes. I've been taking them for about a month to help lose weight. I noticed that if I'd eat any kind of meal id get the runs. Today is day two of my pre op diet and it's going awesome. Try not to think about the what you can't have anymore. I know you can get through it! :)

I currently have the band. I'm almost 4 years out from that surgery. It's slipped and climbing up to my esophagus and must come out. We are hoping (praying!) that I can be revised at the same time. DR. B typically will NOT revise at the same time as removal but my band isn't in the place it's supposed to be. So unless there is excessive damage or scar tissue, he's going to go ahead w/revision instead of making me wait til August.

Hope they can do the revision at the same time as removing the band. Less trauma for your body to go through! Good luck and hope your sleeved soon. ;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
