Almost Out Of The 300's

Recommended Posts

It's only been 17dys since my surgery and I'm so in love with my sleeve already!

I started at 346lbs and for the pre-op diet I got down to 330lbs exactly. And today I weight 310.6lbs!

11 more pounds to go and I'll be out of the 300's for good! I'm just so happy I want to scream from the roof tops!

Now I know I have a long ways to go until my goal (160lbs), but I'm so happy to get out the 300's. Hopefully I'll meet this goal by the end of the month and then I'll begin to tackle the 200's.

I just started walking a mile a day so that should help as well.

Guys this is so exciting to lose weight. My skin is better.. I sleep better.. even wake up before the alarm goes off.. and that's only with a 36lb weight loss.. I can't imagine what losing 150lbs will feel like... because this right here is fantastic!!!

We have similar stats. I was 348 the day of surgery. When I had my lapband I was about 385, but got down to about 215, then back up from there. ;) First week sleeve post-op I was down about 45 lbs IIRC, but also extremely dehydrated. Probably 18 - 20 of that was fat. I've been stalled for the last 3.5 weeks (at least)... but that happens with me.

You're going to feel amazing. I remember fondly (sigh) how I felt when I was down enough that the 100s were not just an impossible goal.

Nikki and Wheetsin, congratulations to you both!!!! It keeps getting better and better. Don't stress about the stalls! They do happen BUT you will kick butt and get through them! I am a relatively "slow loser" and have stalled throughout, especially in the begining. Often as long as 4 weeks. ( Just recenty another 4 weeks stalled and then two pounds loss.) But overall I have lost 92 pounds in 11 months - 103 since my highest!!!! I look and feel great!!! and the stalls have somehow vanished from my memory LOL. I just kept doing what I was suppose to do and felt confident in that. Congrats again to you both and keep up the good work! I look forward to reading about your progress!!!!

Congrats on the weight loss, Nikki!! You're doing great and you'll see Twoterville in no time!! That's time for a happy dance, for sure!!! :) I was 352, now at 257 and holding, waiting on my Century Club at 252, then it's coasting into Onderland for me!! :) I'm 8.5 months out and I've stalled a couple of times, but just ignore the stalls, keep working that sleeve and, before you know it, you'll be at goal!! :)

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
