Hi Everybody,

I know this might sound silly, but....

I have my Revision surgery (lapband removal & vertical sleeve) scheduled for Monday, Sept 10, 2012. I will be flying into San Diego on Sunday, Sept 9th early afternoon and departing on Saturday, Sept 15th early afternoon. The surgery center will be picking me up at the airport and driving me down to Tijuana for my surgery and then a 5 day stay at the Marriott Hotel.

I couldn't ask for a better surgeon or center and I implicitly trust my doctor (Dr. Ortiz) and surgery center (OCC) ....but, I have been feeling anxious about being alone for my surgery and then 5 days at the hotel by myself.

A good friend of mine has volunteered to go with me... I didn't ask, but I think she knows that I need/desire the moral support. She just told me that she wants to go with me and I am feeling so much better and feel alot more relaxed about my upcoming experience knowing that I will have a friend to hold my hand if I need it.

The only hiccup is that her husband is worried about her traveling to Tijuana. I have had no such qualms... but, would love to pass on some positive feedback on how our safety is not an issue.

Any suggestions or thoughts... I would greatly appreciate them!

Thanks for listening.... Dottie

I will be going alone to Tijuana and my family are afraid too... But I'm not. There is dangers in every major city. US or not. I live a few minutes from New Orleans, and there is A LOT of places we don't go!

I just came from there and it is perfectly safe. I am sure there are bad parts just like anywhere in the states and you just stay away from those areas. You can ask the staff at the Marriott where the good places are to go and have them send for your cabs so you do not get over charged for a trip. I did not have any problems.

I was sleeved by Dr. Ortiz on April 16th and Tijuana is FINE!!! I walked with my 63 year old mother from the Marriott to the Wal-Mart shopping center, casino, etc.... No issues at all. I was out laying by the pool the day I was discharged and out shopping on Revolution Row (again with my mother) on day 2 for 3-4 hours. The hotel and surrounding areas are safe... I didn't feel nervous or uncomfortable at all..

Best of Luck!

I just got home Monday from Tijuana! It was more than safe! The people that live there say to

Not take independent cabs, always ones from your hotel and don't got out after dark! We went shopping and ate out. My fiancé and another husband ate out all three meals. It's actually a nice town. People are nice. Even the ones that live there follow these two rules.

I went to Tijuana alone and never had a problem. I never felt unsafe. In fact, I don't think the locals even looked at me lol. The Marriott is very safe. No one can use the elevator without a key and then it only goes to your floor. The whole experience was great!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
