Hi novo,

I just went thru getting my super released thru APRA. So you can download the early release of super form , from the APRA web site. There's a few sections for you to fill out & you will need to take that form to your GP & he/she will fill out their section. The form also needs to go to your surgeons office to be filled in as well. My surgeons office didn't fill in the form they had a letter for me to attach to the form.

You will also need photo copies of your I'd signed by a JP or a Police officer.

you need to send two copies of the form into to APRA, they take about 10 days to asses your application. Once they have approved the release of super they will send you a approval letter , then send that letter to your super company and they will deposit your funds to you.

There is one thing you need to know, you will need to have an extra 21% in your super account than what you want to take out, because they tax you 21% to take the funds out.it's a rip off but what can you do!!

Another thing make sure your forms are perfect before sending them in, cause if there's anything wrong with your form , they will put you back to the bottom of the pile. If you are unsure of anything ring them and ask better to get the form right the first time.I think I called them 3 times... Lol

If you have any questions I'm happy to help , just send me a message.

Can i also just ask did you have to provide proof of income, loans, credit cards etc to send as well...

I knew they taxed quite a bit but was shocked when my superfund actually told me the amount, it was around $7-$8k on top of the cost of the operation. Yikes. Lucky my dad made me contribute to super when i was younger so have a healthy amount.

Just be aware that I self-funded my op too and when I got a leak, I also got a bill for another $15000. I don't want to put you off cause honestly, even with the leak, the sleeve is the best thing ever but just know that going it on your own is fraught with risks. and if you can, have a little stashed for contingencies... Cheers, Liss

I had worried about that. I checked with my super fund and they said in the event of further costs I can dip back in for more money... I hope you were able to do that...

I think the only thing that scares me is additional costs in the event of an emergency, not the surgery haha

My surgeon said he adds the cost of a night in intensive care into the quote just in case.

That's good. I am just trying to find out about accessing my super to pay for the emergency stuff :) Fingers crossed it'll get sorted out!

Hi Lila,

When I enquired about super release after survey I was told they could only release if I could prove I took out a loan or if it was paid by credit, or had outstanding receipts but because I paid cash they could not release any funds, hope that helps.

Hi all

I have been off the site for a while and had a lot to catch up on, seems every one is doing so well, I am just over 6 months out now and only 8 kilos to my "healthy weight range" although I aim for an extra 4 kilos below it, had my 6 month check up this week and my surgeon is really happy with my results, I have lost 36.1 kilos and feel amazing, life changes were surprisingly easy and happy to say my new life just seems normal.

Hi all, had my my 3 month ( actually closer to 4) checkup and all was good. Lost 58 percent of excess weight, expect me to lose same again in the next 6-9 months. 30 kgs is awesome I'm expecting another 20kgs all up. Loose skin is going to be a big issue, already looking into surgery for that but will wait till 2 years is up. Feeling awesome buying new clothes ( even though they don't last long lol) food is all good, can't eat eggs or lamb. Still eat beef pork chicken. Only getting in about 600 cal 300 of that is iced tea which NUT wants me to cut out but have trouble drinking Water so rather that than nothing. Back into training and loving it, taken up surfing ( wife calls it mid life crisis lol) did RAW challenge, doing colour run in May, then a mountain man triathlon in sept. loving life. Love sleeve

Wow Scotty, sounds like you're on track and doing well.

I recently discovered the Lipton LITE iced tea at the supermarket. It's very nice and really really really low in calories.

There us a peach flavour as well as a lemon green tea, give it a go and save yourself on those unwanted calories!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
