Oh Lila, I really wish life would cut you some slack. My 5 year old had aspiration pneumonia this year and that was really horrible, even without having just had 2 rounds of surgery. I really hope your surgeon is taking good care of you and that the staff at the public hospital are treating you well. Try to keep positive and look at the complications groups and all the people that have come out the other side and don't at all regret having the surgery. Best wishes.

Thanks :) I guess if I can just change my attitude too it will help - I've been quite upset and it's not getting me anywhere ...let's see what some positive thinking can do ;). I don't regret the surgery itsel but regret ths has been a part of my recovery. At some point the universe shall reveal why this is happening but for now I am just going to try to get through it :) sorry to hear your little one was sick and hope they're all better now! Cheers, Lila

Hey guys' date=' I would like to give Lila some help by donating some money to help her pay her medical bills. I dont have much as Im a single mum but I had an easy recovery& I know Lila self funded to pay for this surgery & has had a hard time through it all. I feel so sad she has had to go through this & maybe in this situation the best help we can all be is to ease the stress of some of her medical bills. Flowers are beautiful to receive at any time but maybe the money spent on flowers would be better utilised on medical costs??? Just a thought... If anyone knows Lila & can send me a message with Lila's account details I would like to donate 100.00. C'mon aussies lets all put in no matter how big or small for the Lovely Lila & make this experience a little less of a burden for her!!

(so sorry Lila if this is embarrasing to you at all - Im just really feeling for you & want to help in any small way that I can) xx Get well soon xx[/quote']

The care, support and generosity of you offer moved me. Reading this is just another reminder that helping and looking out for others is a great thing. Here in the states we have such problems with the idea of helping others that may be in need. Our President candidate Mitt Romney basically admitted that he have no interests for such ideas. Called most voters of President Obama freeloaders looking for a hand out. I voted for him while I was in the military and I'm not one. Even with a job ppl struggle and need hep with school tuition, healthcare and other needs. This post reaffirmed my belief in my choice in a president. When NEED ppl that care for others not just filling their pockets. Sorry for the rant. I lurk on this thread all the time because if the genuine care I've sensed.

Wow that's a awesome weigh loss' date=' congrats. You must feel awesome. How much more weight are you hoping to lose?[/quote']

Thanks - feeling really happy about the weightloss - I guess I can't wait until this new way of eating will just come to me naturally - I guess everyone feels that way and I am sure it is just time. The psychologist at my clinic described it as learning to drive. Initially you have to think about every gear change, every clutch movement etc but soon you do it all automatically without thinking about it. Another strange thing is that sometimes I look in the mirror and i can't see the weight loss

Sorry sent that post too soon... Anyway I was saying I can't see the weight loss in the mirror sometimes - it really brings home to me how all these years of being over weight has impacted my body image! Logically I know I have lost the weight but I guess you still have fat days and skinny days!

Anyway, my goal is 69 - this the top end of a healthy BMI or my height. I don't really want to loose anymore than that and hope I get there!

I am taking the following each day

1 x multi Vitamin

1 x krill oil

2 x silica

4 x Calcium citrates-have to have 2 mid morning and two in the evening as these are not meant to be taken with other supplements or with Protein as they inhibit the absorbtion of Protein.< /p>

I am not taking D or Iron yet as the dietician wants to check if I have a deficiency first - blood test next month to check everything.

On top of that I am also taking 1 x Nexium and 2 x coloxyl.

I feel like I am rattling when I walk!!

Thank u for the post! I saw part of his speech this morning on the news- I couldn't believe it!! The last thing America needs is a president with the kind of thought process and mentality like that! I love this thread and although try to contribute to other threads I check on here regularly as its is great to talk to these ladies and hear their advice and progress. I had mentioned to a friend of mine the other day that I have a friend currently in hospital with severe complications and how unfair it is on her and her family (Beautiful Lila of course!!) My friend snorted and said "she is not a friend she is a woman on the Internet!" I said to her that the ladies on her feel like friends to me because of the genuine love and support you read towards each other and receive on here. Interestingly enough this particular friend took me to the hospital on the day of my surgery, dropping me off and wouldn't come in with me - dispite knowing now nervous I was and that my family are in Vegas and I have no support here at the moment. I am 8 days post op and she hasn't even checked in with me to see how I am! Proof that these 'ladies on the internet' can be better friends and support than some of our face to face friends......if I am making any sense at all??!! Lol :-)

wow you are doing great sueoco!! how far out are you? I feel like I have taken a step backwards' date=' everything hurts going down & it still hurts to take deep breaths <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> I am nearly 4 weeks out[/quote']

Thanks - sorry forgot to mention that -9 weeks today since my op. The eating starts to get a bit easier as you learn what you can tolerate and you chew more and slow down. I think I was still tender at 4 weeks. You are not healed until 6 weeks and even then I think I took a bit longer. I can still take too bigger bites and I have to stop and wait until it goes down! Slowly getting used to that and absolutely loving the fact that this sleeve just stops you dead in your tracks even if you wanted to eat more!

Oh yes this was one heck of an "October surprise" (although I for one am not very surprised!)

and just when you thought it couldn't get worse- out comes the race card!!! GAH!!!

We are very lucky in this country, but we're still growing too!

I hope everyone is improving and/or happy with their progress! I'm thinking of you all!

Oh don't even get me started on Nitwit Romney!! Grrrrrrrrrrrr.......as a yank expat my absentee vote is going in the other direction.

Anyway.....

Lila you seem to ge having the worst luck but here's hoping things are starting to go in the right direction for you. I mean, can it get much worse? (well, I suppose it could, theoretically, but how much more crsp can the universe throw at one person???)

Everyone else, hope you're having great successes and wins. I myself and counting down the hours to disbandment like a kid counting down to Santa Claus! And ain't that funny because 4 years and 3 months exactly ago I was so excited to be able to say "I'm with the band!". I thought my little catch phrase was son cute and clever. HA! Somebody shoulda told me to shove a sock in it! Hahaha.

Cmon Tues 25th Sept 1030am!

;-)

These are an extraordinary bunch of people and although I can't accept their amazing offer of financial support, the meaning behind it and their friendship is invaluable.

Romney is worse version of Bush. Incapable of admitting when he is wrong, unwilling to be held accountable for mistakes and tack. If he become president Im going to teach English in S. Korea or Japan.

Your making perfect sense. This thread really surprise me because it made me believe that there can be a such thing as real Internet friends. They really is a shame your friend left t you in your time of need. It's great that you found support from here and makes me upset that someone can dismiss what that meant to you. Hope you have a speedy recovery with fast weight loss.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
