YAY!!! It's a crazy feeling, isn't it? Going into stores we never would have and having to let our partner choose our stuff because THEY can see we need a smaller size even what WE can't. I mean, I'm in a size large, yet when we go into thrift stores I still head over to the 2x and my hubby is always saying "No babe, you're not in that size anymore. You're over here now" and still....even after all this time...I still forget lol Congrats!!!

Well done 👏👏👏 What a buzz for you, all these new clothing places you can actually go in to and buy things that fit you 😉 So pleased for you…it’s time to get rid of the stuff that is too big for you now - enjoy!

Thank you! Definitely having fun with it - I need to go back out this weekend I think!

It is gonna take a while to get rid of all the clothes I currently have 😂

it is the best feeling ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Girl I went from a 18/20 to size 4, sometimes 2. Tops 2x/3x to a S/M and there are times when I do laundry Im like whose clothes are these? or getting pants from the closet then look to put them on and just feel like "no way these are fitting" and they slip right on! I am so so so proud of you!!! enjoy these highs!

Literally is! :D It is so strange that the mind just refuses to believe that we are a smaller size now, but I kinda like that I am pleasantly surprised every time 😂

Thank you so much!!

Oh my goodness, I find it so hard to shop for clothing in stores right now because I can't tell by looking whether something will fit. I order a lot of clothing online, and for that I find the measurement chart helpful because those don't lie the way numbered sizes do. For going into winter, I've bought 3 pairs of jeans, some skirts, and several sweaters. I'm keeping the summer clothing until next year but not sure how much of it will fit by then. I'm less than 20 lbs away from my goal weight now, so that will maybe be one more size down? I guess we'll see! For now, I have been buying cheaper options, but I look forward to buying some nicer brands once I hit maintenance.

See I have thought about buying things online but I am so hesitant as I know that everywhere can have different sizing and I don't want to order something and then just have to return it, I am too lazy 😂

Amazing that you are so close to your goal, well done!

It's such a mindset shift isnt it! The old me used to dread going shopping so much in case they didnt have my size (most places didnt) so literally had to be dragged shopping.

Congrats btw, we keep hitting new milestones and I for one am so much happier in my own skin, and i'm only just past half way to my goal.

It is really strange! I think I have only felt like this once in my life when I got down to 12 stone when I was at university, and I was just in shock 🤣 I genuinely stopped clothes shopping when I was at my heaviest, I just didn't feel like I deserved it and I didn't want the embarrassment, as a result most of my clothes I have now are very tattered so I will be happy to get rid haha!

Thank you! Congrats to us both! I am really happy you are feeling that way!

honestly i have a TONNE of fairly nice clothes that i've half donated, half kept cu they are just to nice to give away.

if anyone is like 5'2"-ish and want some clothes in various sizes from size 18 to size 6, AND willing to pay for shipping from Canada, let me know! i's be happy to hand it over to a fellow wls-er.

Shipping from Canada - UK is probably very expensive, but part of me could be tempted 😂

Until recently I bought mainly second hand (Vestiaire and Vinted) or sales in M&S and Next. It meant I wasn't paying a lot for good quality clothes that I wasn't going to wear for very long.

I feel the same way! I am size 20 to now 12/14. Sometimes even size 10. I bought things online thinking I might be XL, because I was previously XXL, but they didn’t fit. Then I exchange to L and it’s still too big…Clothing size is very complicated now, but I am feeling the same excitement!!! Woohooo

I would like to suggest don’t buy too much new clothing now because you will size down fairly quickly. I have to buy new clothes every 2 months or so. I bought summer clothes in July for the summer and they don’t fit anymore. I bought more sweaters for the winter and refrain from buying more. I know it’s so hard not to buy more!

I finally bit the bullet and bought some new clothes today.

I was quite apprehensive as I genuinely didn't know what size I would be, so I had my boyfriend with me who doubles up as my stylist 😂

I went into New Look - which I wouldn't have even dreamt of doing pre-surgery - and just asked him to pick some things for me.

He picked 3 coats (I currently have none that fit me, and it is getting cold here in the UK!), a skirt, and a cropped jumper. I was trying to insist that I would need a size UK 18-20 (which is a US 14-16 I think?), but he was adamant that I needed a UK 12-14 (US 8-10?)...I tried them on in the sizes he suggested, and they FIT.

I genuinely didn't believe it, like I don't think I have been this size since 2017/18...my brain can't actually see it or even compute with it.

Before surgery I was a UK 22, more of a 24 in most things if I am honest. Just can't believe it yet. Does anyone else get like this?!

But I am riding a high today, I feel good, and I am still in shock 😂

I am 100% going through the same clothes dilemma 🤣 i realised yesterday my clothes are too big and i have nothing to wear 😱 and the weather getting colder i tried on all my coats and they are all ridiculously too big

Quite the opposite problem i used to have so i cannot wrap my head around it

I know everyone says not to buy new clothes but hey let’s make the most of it - dragging my bf around London this weekend to sort my wardrobe out hahaha

I am so thrilled for you. That is such a wonderful feeling to be able to enjoy shopping again. I am already having a bit more fun with it. I got a cute pair of pink leggings for Yoga that I never would’ve worn before to Celebrate my 50 pounds loss and I just got there but I have to wait untill after Wednesday to wear them because I don’t have a bra that fits that will work under a white top to match. I ordered a couple nude sports bras that will be here Wednesday though. I can already tell that I am going to probably be spending a pretty penny on athletic attire. I guess whatever keeps me motivated though.

I am still yet to actually buy the amount of clothes I actually need! I keep finding myself bagging tons of stuff up for the charity shops, and then realising I actually have nothing to wear.

I currently have only 1 work-appropriate skirt, and a few tops! I NEED to go shopping 😂

Yes, you need to get a few things for work at least.

I thought I had work trousers, usually wear jeans to office, but for meeting clients etc we can't do jeans. Yesterday put the M&S size 10 trousers on and they are so baggy (not in a flattering way) and barely stay up. Had to wear them yesterday and today but think they will go in recycling bag. Annoying as I have another lovely M&S pair in a 10 also but they are too big, but at least can take a belt, but all too late to return them and they are out of stock in a 6 and 8,

I wonder if it would be worth it to pay to take them in? I mean if you really like them and can’t get them in a smalller size.

You guys are making me wish I was already at the point where I could get rid of my old wardrobe and get smaller clothes! I have lost about 25 lbs but I always lose up top before bottom, so I have noticed my shirts getting looser but that’s about it. 🤞🏼it happens soon!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
