lily06 got a reaction from Arabesque in Prégnant 11 months post opThank you both!
100% first thing I did was book in to see the dietician for early next month ?
I have a apt with my surgeon 1st April that was my 1 year post up check up so I guess that will also answer some questions
Still scary though ? -

lily06 got a reaction from summerseeker in Prégnant 11 months post opWell here’s one I never thought I’d post.
I just found out I’m pregnant 11 months post op.
(Happy) accident (failed BC)
But I’m really worried about how it’ll affect me weight wise, I was doing so well I’ve hit my goal and was 3kg away from hitting the goal I’d set for my 1 year post up next month
Anyone been through this ? How did you navigate pregnancy after a sleeve ?

lily06 got a reaction from Bessieboop1981 in 2 weeks post op with minimum restriction and present hungerOh no never ever compare the others - i noticed the WLS surgery can be quite toxic at times online. Some almost boasting about eating so very little … well some of us need more and when i caught myself panicking about being actually hungry i thought about it after a few days and i’m glad ! I can eat a bit more so it means i can go out to eat and choose wisely, i can drink so i’m not dehydrated, i can live a normal life which in the end is why i wanted the surgery
It’s normal to want to compare but i think we should each go through the journey and listen to our own bodies which is what we should’ve been doing all these years
Good luck with everything ? -
lily06 got a reaction from Arabesque in 3 Months Post-OpYayy congrats !
I’d heard of the 3 week stall but not the 3 month ? this explains so much !! I’m about 4 months post up and i’ve hit my first long stall : it’s been 4 weeks and no loss.
Oh well i can’t complain i just take it one day at a time but that worry creeps on me sometimes
Well done to everyone in this thread i get so happy when people describe all their personal NSVs !!
My biggest one happened a few days ago:
No more seatbelt extender on the plane
I weirdly enough didn’t even expect it so it was an entire new (positive) shock when i got on the plane and just randomly realised i could fit comfortably in the seat and buckle the belt ? -
lily06 got a reaction from Bypass2Freedom in Slowing Down ??️I just had a check up with my surgeon and he told me the weight loss slows down at the 6 month mark, then at 12 months and then usually stalls around 18 months post op.
I’m 8 months post up and I have definitely noticed the weight loss has slowed to 3kg (6lbs) a month. But i also noticed it’s motivated me in my choices: I’m so much more mindful in the sense that i catch myself choosing entirely willingly to eat more protein for example or to just say no to that Christmas chocolate someone’s offering - and knowing my weight loss is slower means I am even more conscious of the impact of « bad decisions » so it’s actually kind of a good thing.
Almost like preparing for the future I guess
But anyways yes it’s normal to see the loss slow down but put a positive spin on it
My surgeon actually told me there’s and « anorexiogenic » side to WLS that can be dangerous - kinda like being addicted to seeing that number go down. So he prônes putting the scale away and weighing in once a month from 6 months post op onwards to make sure we don’t mess with our mental health -

lily06 reacted to NickelChip in Low Vitamin A after surgeryMy pre-surgery Vitamin A was 43. It had dropped to 27 at 4.5 months and was up to 34 at 7 months, but "normal" is 38 or above, so the doctor is having me take 10,000 IU of Vitamin A daily for two weeks (which is the same as 3,000 mcg) just to bolster my levels. I will retest before my 1 year surgery follow up. You can get Vitamin A supplements over the counter, no prescription needed.

lily06 reacted to Chatterboxdea in Low Vitamin A after surgeryMaybe start by eating more of these, until you can see your dr.

lily06 got a reaction from ShoppGirl in Low Vitamin A after surgeryI had VSG so wasn’t aware it was common
It’s my second panel - i had one 3-4 months out and it was fine
I’ll définately call my doctor later today thanks for the insight -
lily06 got a reaction from Arabesque in New ClothesYesss i had the exact same realisation that i was wearing things too tight before.
I think clothing is one of those things that we don’t necessarily notice getting baggy until suddenly one day you realise your shirt doesn’t look right and looks huge
I’m actually considering buying 2 different sizes of work clothes so i can just switch to the next size down without having to search for entirely new outfits
I went clothes shopping today and spent so long trying things on and have come to the conclusion i had absolutely no idea what size i was - i’ve actually bought clothing in a smaller size than i expected ? feels so good ! And kind of even better that i hadn’t seen that coming
It’s actually given me a huge motivation boost so i highly recommend window shopping and trying things on to anyone who feels like their weightloss isn’t noticeable to them -

lily06 got a reaction from ShoppGirl in Weightloss being noticed: dealing with comments from others?Yup but sadly that doesn’t deter most men .. i actually think these idiots see it as a challenge to get to flirt with a married woman ! -
My go to now is to find someway to incorporate my husband into the conversation. Like if we’re in a parking lot, I will stop and say oh my husband was thinking about getting one of them cars. Even if it’s not true, just to mention that I have a husband. I figure if they still keep it up at that point I can just be blatantly rude because they are definitely being rude trying to flirt with a married woman.

lily06 got a reaction from NeonRaven8919 in Weightloss being noticed: dealing with comments from others?Hi All !
I hope everyone is doing well on their journey,
As usual, when i don’t know who to turn to regarding my VSG journey i turn to the forum ?
For a little backstory i had VSG surgery in early april of this year, so it’s been 7 months so far.
I’m now down 88 pounds / 40kg
And for the first time throughout these 7 months i’ve started getting comments from people about how much weight i’ve lost.
Mainly from coworkers, or friends i haven’t seen in a while - « wow you’ve lost so much weight » or « you’ve melted away the pounds » or « you look completely different » …
The issue is i have no idea how to react ! I never know what to say i feel awkward and weird when someone says this to me … and i’m not usually the kind of person to not react it’s just so strange to me that i can’t seem to find the words.
Shouldn’t i be proud ? It’s what i wanted after all …
Does or has anyone else felt the same ? How did you navigate the comments ?

lily06 reacted to Bypass2Freedom in New ClothesI am still yet to actually buy the amount of clothes I actually need! I keep finding myself bagging tons of stuff up for the charity shops, and then realising I actually have nothing to wear.
I currently have only 1 work-appropriate skirt, and a few tops! I NEED to go shopping ?

lily06 got a reaction from Bypass2Freedom in New ClothesI am 100% going through the same clothes dilemma ? i realised yesterday my clothes are too big and i have nothing to wear ? and the weather getting colder i tried on all my coats and they are all ridiculously too big
Quite the opposite problem i used to have so i cannot wrap my head around it
I know everyone says not to buy new clothes but hey let’s make the most of it - dragging my bf around London this weekend to sort my wardrobe out hahaha
-
lily06 reacted to ShoppGirl in New ClothesI am so thrilled for you. That is such a wonderful feeling to be able to enjoy shopping again. I am already having a bit more fun with it. I got a cute pair of pink leggings for Yoga that I never would’ve worn before to celebrate my 50 pounds loss and I just got there but I have to wait untill after Wednesday to wear them because I don’t have a bra that fits that will work under a white top to match. I ordered a couple nude sports bras that will be here Wednesday though. I can already tell that I am going to probably be spending a pretty penny on athletic attire. I guess whatever keeps me motivated though.

Honestly, one of the things I didn't miss when I became morbidly obese. There is a big difference between a kind compliment and a lewd suggestive comment. Now that I've lost a lot of my chest size, it's cut down on that BS considerably. Hahahaa!
