Everyone Here Seems To Need More Doctor Visits Before Surgery...

Recommended Posts

Am getting very nervous because I am on my 5th month of a 6 month supervised diet but, things have been going smoothly thus far. It seems everyone here needs to do things that I don't (Cardiologist visit, sleep test, endocrinologist). According to my surgeon I only need to see a nutritionist, psychiatrist, have an endoscopy and lab work done. I really hope my insurance is going to approve me for this September :-X I feel like this is going to take forever.

If there is one thing I have learned on this website I have learned that every single dr and hospital is different. In my opinion, if you trust your surgeon and are comfortable with him/her than just follow their guidlines and dont worry. Your surgeon is looking at you medical situation and you may not need these tests.

Good Luck to you!

I may be wrong but I think it depends on your insurance and what your surgeon requires. My insurance didn't require a 6 month wait for a supervised diet but The list consists of 2 support groups, seminar, pre op class, blood work, upper GI x-ray, 1 visit with the Nutritionist, psych eval, cardiologist visit, pulmonologist visit, gastroenterologist visit, and an Endoscopy. I believe that will be all unless one of the Dr.'s orders more tests. Keep your eye on the prize and hopefully the time will fly by!

Yeah - everywhere is different & it could even be different from patient to patient depending on medical history. I had to see a cardiologist & have a stress test because I had an abnormal EKG in my primary doctor's office. I have a friend who needed a sleep study, but I didn't need one because I've already been diagnosed with sleep apnea. It really depends in your history & what they need to know to do the surgery well.

Alot of it depends on your insurance requirements.

Thanks guys for responding so quickly. I guess I am just anxious because the office will be submitting for my approval next month. Good to know that everyone has different requirements.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
