I desperately need to get this surgery done. I just bought a home and have no money in savings and a low low credit score (around 550). I dont have anyone that can cosign this loan. I work 50+ hours a week and am lost. Is there anyone that knows of a place that I can get a loan at. I am even willing to put my home up as collateral. Im at the end of my rope. I talked to Dr. Kelly and am good to go except for the money. What the heck do I do now??

Thanks anyone for taking the time to read this...

I don't mean any offense, but most people are "good to go" except for the money. Money is why I didnt do this 10 years sooner!

Is there any way you can take out a home equity loan? With a low credit score, unless you're friendly with a banker lol, then you're probably out of luck for now. Have you looked into prosper.com?

Do you own a car outright? Have anything you can put up for collateral or anything you can sell?

If you have exhausted all your other avenues, I guess you'd just have to work on improving your credit score over the next year or two then try again.

What about a doc that offers financing through their office? I know Dr Rodriquez does & Dr Garcias office is letting me finance $2000.

Do you have a 401K can you take a loan from?

Good luck, hang in there.

I have the same problem pretty much. I will be taking money out of my 401k as a 'financial hardship' for 'medical reasons' in order to get the surgery. If you take it out for financial hardship, you don't have to pay it back. I don't HAVE the money yet, but the worx to get it has started. I N hoping to go to Dr. Kelly in August! It can't come soon enough for me!!!

I don't. There's not enough in there. I just bought a house cash and have just done a major overhaul of it. I was able to claim the hardship for the work on the house, now it's wiped out.

If you bought the house Cash can't you take out a small mortgage on the house?

I took the money out of my ira and paid the penalty. My sister got a loan from one of the companies that advertise here. MedLoans maybe?? I think they approve everyone but your interest rate will depend on your credit score so it could be a little high. If you paid cash for your house, you should have a ton of equity and be able to get a small home equity loan for a much lower interest rate. I will just say, what ever you have to do, its worth it! Also, there are a couple of docs who are still under $5000.

I have no idea how to go about doing this. Every place I know wants a credit check and that screws me. Well, I do have good news anyway... My insurance does cove the sleeve but i have a 5000 deductible and then they pay 70%. Does anyone know of some of the least expensive places to go?

Hmm maybe that came off wrong. I just thought it was ironic when I read that your deductible was $5000 :) lol

Was watching Two and a Half Men last night with hubby and his deductible was $500,000 lol.

Well, I am not able to get approved for a loan at this moment and have decided to hold the money I have saved up and use my tax return in Jan/Feb 2013 for the surgery. I also have a co-signor that is willing to help, but think it would be easier on me financially to just pay it in full.

Do you anticipate a decent size tax return? I think you would considering that you purchased a home and did heavy renovations.

Probably so. I have two kids and a steady job. I think i may be rushing things a bit. I also get student balance checks in the fall, but my health is deteriorating all of a sudden. my knees are swollen and hurt, my feet are swollen all the time, its starting to hurt getting out of the bed. I just dont want this situation to get any worse. I dont know what to do....

Trust me, I understand. Like I posted in other forums, I was initially approved for my surgery and then the company I worked for was acquired. Starting in January, we had to switch our plans to the new company's plan which totally excludes WLS. When I found this out, I already spent my tax return on paying bills off and a new car.

I tore my achilles tendon in November and also recently developed heel spurs. I always had back pains from 2 different car accidents, knee pains, and a great loss of energy. I know this surgery is right for me, but at the same time - I have 2 children as well and we need to eat and the bills have to be paid!!

In the meantime, I am taking Water aerobics classes and building my upper body strenghth up to keep me from losing my mind.

I just saw in another forum about a site for peer lending... lendingclub dot com. check that out also.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
