The bus ride is not the issue. It's how you're going to feel walking around EPCOT all day. It is a huge park and is spread out ( lots of walking ). It makes even healthy people tired. You may want to tap someone in your party to cart you in a wheelchair (which you can rent) or you can rent an ECV for the day at the front entrance.

I felt really good after surgery but I'm not sure I could have kept up with a pack of 6th graders. My advice would be to stay hydrated, try to rest during those waits in line, take Advil with you in case your incisions start bothering you, don't overdo it and have fun!

I wouldn't have been able to do it. Low energy levels are among the most common of post-op symptoms. I was dragging for a few weeks.

I am sooo glad u guys posted this. I just got letters about events at my kids' school at the end of May and I debated whether I would be up for volunteering after having surgery May 15th...I think I will sit this year out!! Thanks for the info!!

Everyone's body is different. My energy level was not affected by the surgery. It actually improved. If you do decide that you are up to it, get a map of Epcot and locate the rest areas and emergency services. Get the number to emergency services at the park and the number to the local hospital. Take lots of Water ---- I would suggest bringing a backpack. Cloth yourself properly which means wearing a hat to protect you from the sun, comfortable shoes, and comfortable pants/sundress so that you won't irritate your incisions. Make sure that you partner with another parent so that they are aware that you recently had a procedure done and they have the numbers to emergency services.

If this seems too much to do, stay home. Yes, you may miss out on a precious moment with your daughter, but what you are doing today is ensuring that you won't miss out on any more.

I was back to swimming pretty hard two weeks post surgery, but I never could have done that trip at that stage. I was too tired.

EPCOT is a fabulous park and if you are feeling pretty well you shouldn't talk yourself out of going. Just make a plan, take frequent rest stops, stay hydrated and pre-arrange meeting places with your group for when you need to take a breather. There are lots of shaded/cool spots to relax. I agree with randalljohn that if you have trouble walking, arrange for an ECV rental. If you are an experienced walker, take your best walking shoes. You can reasonably expect to walk 3-5 miles in a full day at EPCOT if your group is on the go.

Disney doesn't skimp on rest areas, guest assistance or facilities for disabled or walking impaired people, so take full advantage of their services.

Here's a link to the map if you aren't familiar with the park: http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/epcot.htm

Above all - have fun!

PS - I'm an experienced Disney parks person, feel free to PM me if you have any questions about EPCOT.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
