Advice From Those Who Are 2 Or 3 Weeks Post-Op, Please.

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am performing in a charity variety show 3 weeks after surgery. I have to do a couple of numbers that essentially would be the equivalent of 3-minute line dances. Not super- complicated choreography, but pretty fast. So, 3-weekers, do you think I'll be ok as far as incision healing and stamina?

Thanks in advance!

I am 3 weeks out today. I went back to work 10 days post-op. I'm a teacher. I'm usually tired after work. I do get in all my Proteins, Vitamins, and liquids. I can bend over slowly. Sometimes my incisions still ache. I would say it depend on your healing process, everyone is different. I know personally I have no energy after work and can't bend easily, so an easy routine might be doable.

My doctor's office is letting me go back to work without any restrictions (as a police officer) after 4 weeks post op so I would imagine some light exercise would be no problem.

BUT...I am not a doctor so I would probably call them just to make sure.

Depends on the method your incisions were made and depends on how much abdominal streching you are doing while dancing.

I believe that if you have a drain or staples your incisions may heal slower than if they were surgicaly glued together.

Mine were glued and im 15 days out and have gone back to light yoga and light kickboxing classes- I feel that I can tell when I push my movement too far to where it may be a danger to my incisions.

My advice is to start practicing the dance on a LOW intensity as soon as comfortably possible after your VGS and slowly work up to the desired pace if possible.

I'm 16 days out and could line dance for sure. I doubt you'll have any problems.

Good luck and much success on your show!

I could have done it from a "healing after the surgery" perspective, but not from an "I have enough energy" perspective. That soon post-op, I felt like a limp dishrag! LOL

I didn't have the stamina to do a 3 minute line dance after surgery, but I'd have definitely tried! :)

Maybe if it's the only thing you do that day. I've been on the couch the past two hours, took a nap, and am still exhausted. A roomful of ten year olds all day long tires my poor sleeve.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
