I do TRX training, I run, I lift free weights, I do yoga, I dance, and I keep my workouts constantly changing so my muscles don't get used to a single routine. So, wtf! =(

AussieGirl, You ARE a success!! 110 pounds is amazing!! :) I'm coming right up behind you. I can see my 100 pound mark just around the corner and I'm excited. I'll have to step up my game to get there, but I'm already pushing a little here and a little there, working on that next size down. :)

Thanks Lissa!

I weigh in kilos and hitting the 100kg mark is pretty much like you guys hitting the 100pound mark...I did that at Easter, and felt great.

You deserve to Celebrate at 100 pounds it is an awesome feet. Celebrate by dancing the night away :)

You guys are such an inspiration to me. Thank you for your inputs.

IDK why I am resistant to myfitnesspal.com but I'm gonna hafta try it. I write down what I have but then I don't always know the carb intake and other items.

And btw, I know blackberry juice, that's the most caloric intake I've seen yet on here but for as much as you work out, I believe you have to do that. My dr. told me the same (I used to do 5 to 6 miles on the elliptical 5 times a week and an hour of weight lifting before or after the elliptical... and my dr. told me I'd probably have to have at least 1800 calories after my metabolic test but right now, I'm just trying to figure out all of this diet as I progress back to normal and still how to lose the remaining weight).

Thank you guys for pushing yourselves to success and sharing the details with the rest of us. It is purely inspiration! Thank you.

I'm 9 months out today! Hurray! I am down 97.4 pounds and have about 20 to go.

My typical day:

8:00 - Breakfast: I always drink a Protein shake on the way to work. I will usually use Body Fortress with Water which is 26g Protein or my favorite Premier Protein which is 30g protein but more expensive.

10:00 - Morning snack: Kroger Carbmaster Yogurt (8g protein), or cheddar cheese cubes or a cheese stick.

12:00 - Lunch: Usually I'll have some low sodium turkey breast, leftovers from the night before, or a Morningstar Farms Grillers Prime burger with a slice of cheese on top (22g protein). I always eat lunch at my desk so it's relatively a simple fast meal.

2:00 - Afternoon snack: Yogurt, cheese, or Peanut Butter. I keep a jar in my desk and eat a couple of tablespoon with a spoon. Yes, my co-workers think I'm weird lol. I like the Peanut Butter because I am finding at 9 months out I need to increase my calories to continue to lose weight.

2:30 - Gym: I use the elliptical for 30 minutes and burn about 350-375 calories. Sometimes I mess around with the weight machines. The past few days I started using the c25k program.

5:00 - Dinner: whatever my family feels like having. This is usually my downfall for the day because a lot of times my boyfriend and I go out to eat or we order pizza. I know, bad. A standby favorite is Sloppy Joes without the bun...tons of protein! Or tacos.

I usually get about 7 cups (56oz) of Water in a day including the cup from my morning Protein Drink.

I aim for 70g protein, below 40g carbs (I had to increase them because I felt like crap), and about 800 calories. It is a struggle to get that many calories in and I feel like I'm constantly eating, but hey, it's working. :)

Sorry this post is so incredibly long!

I am a having my sleeve on 17 May, had my eroded band out in January. Let me tell you - this was so thread has put something in my head that I didn't have prior to reading this. I have read thousands of posts about vsg, but was always confused about what I would eat/drink etc. Putting it how you ladies did made me cry - I realized I could do what you are doing now.......your commitment and passion have given me a new lease today - I am getting up and walking around our lake here - haven't done that for months!!!

Thanks heaps and heaps

I'm not entirely sure I'm successful, though I suppose that just in reaching goal I've made success of my sleeve!

In the beginning (the first maybe nine months for me) eating was a chore. So my day always started with me sitting on my laptop with my morning Protein coffee (two scoops of Protein powder mixed with one cup of coffee) and logging my meal plan for the day. Breakfast is hard for me because I just don't like to eat first thing in the morning, so most days I drink a shake for Breakfast.< /p>

I had to plan before starting my day because it was HARD to get enough calories and Protein into my body.

So, I went back to myfitnesspal to peek at my diet.

Within six months of surgery I was drinking a shake for breakfast in addition to eating a scrambled egg (I'd slowly sip the shake before and after eating the egg). I'd usually eat two or three pieces of lunchmeat or some other soft protein for lunch. I would eat a few ounces of chicken for dinner. I was usually low on calories/protein by the end of the day so I'd have either sludge (a scoop of protein, 1 Tbs. Peanut Butter and a little water) or a shake before bed. At this point, my diet was mostly protein with very low carbs. This was because eating was WORK for me. I had no appetite, had developed lactose intolerance and had so much restriction I couldn't eat more than an egg in a sitting.

I was eating about 400-500 calories a day, 20-30 grams of carbs and 60 grams of protein per day. I had to eat around the clock to get this much food into my body.

Fast forward to about ten months out. I was eating more reasonably. I had my morning protein coffee (two scoops, one cup coffee). Later I'd eat an egg scrambled with cheese for lunch. For dinner I might eat half a pb & j sandwich on very soft bread and some carrot sticks. Carbs were really helping me feel better so I shifted my focus around 8-9 months on getting more in. Throughout the day I'd have two Snacks - usually one would be a few oz. of Jerky and one would be string cheese or a carb, like crackers.

I was eating about 700 calories a day, 50-60 grams of carbs (all I could hold at this point) and 80-90 grams of protein. It was still a chore to eat.

Around a year out I was really focusing on a more balanced diet. I learned early on that low carbing makes me irritable and tired. Somehow, during this phase I really started to drop my mental food and eating baggage.

I was still drinking one or two shakes a day. I was eating that same scrambled egg with cheese for breakfast most days. I would eat a half sandwich for lunch, maybe with some veggies or fruit if I had room. I would eat a dinner that included not just protein but carbs. So I'd eat some potatoes, some salad, some rice or whatever AND eat a little protein. I made up the difference on protein with shakes, because the carbs were necessary for me and I still had a lot of restriction.

I was eating 900-1,100 calories a day, 90+ grams of carbs, 90+ grams of protein per day at this point and still losing, albeit very slowly as I was down to my last 20 pounds to lose.

Now I'm 21 months out. I eat about 1,200-1,400 calories a day, 120+ grams of carbs and 90+ grams of protein.

I start my day with protein coffee most days because I still have trouble getting more than 1,000 calories in per day without it. For lunch I'll do half a sandwich and a cup of Soup, or half a sandwich and a salad. For dinner I'll eat about 3 oz. of dense protein, some salad, some starch. I usually have two Snacks a day - one protein based like cheese or Jerky and one carb - usually something I've baked!

This is long, but I hope it helps or is at least something like what you were asking for.

~Cheri

Very helpful, thank you.

Glenda, glad we can be of help.

The surgery has given such a new lease on life. food was something that consumed my life, eatting etc.

I feared life post-op before surgery, I didnt know how easy it would be.

My main comment about the surgey and why it feels/felt easy for me is that the biggest obstacle pre-surgery was my head was not ready to make the change. When I had the surgery I was ready and needed the change, the new stomach just helps me stick to my committment.

Good luck with your surgery..happy to answer any questions.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
