I Got Brave And Posted Some Before Pics In My Gallery

Recommended Posts

Oh boy! This was a toughie for me. I haven't liked my picture taken in a LONG time. If a picture got taken that I didn't like I would delete it immediately. In fact, I've been so embarrassed about how I look, I took down my wedding picture that I had on my desk at school, because I didn't look anything like the woman that married my husband. Each time someone reminded me of that, I became more and more ashamed. SO, I had to search far and wide for a few shots of me before my surgery and to be honest - they aren't the worst! - but they are all I have,

I've also taken a couple of head shots since my surgery, and posted those, too. I haven't been brave enough to take a body shot, but will have to soon. My fear had been that for some reason (even though logic says once you've removed 85% of your stomach you SHOULD lose weight) I wouldn't be successful and I'd have a horrible picture of myself (another to delete).

Well, I'm much more optimistic these days, so I'll have to fix that soon. In the meantime, I've added some pictures to my gallery.

I just wanted to share this with my new found, and much appreciated support group.

Thanks everyone.

Christine & Giving it My All- When are your surgeries? Don't worry, walk a lot and sip slowly. You'll do great! Buffy - you too! enjoy the gift to yourself!! I got mine on March 27th (3weeks ago tomorrow).

Rdoactv - Pictures are a blessing and curse, aren't they? Now that you are going through this - don't wait; take 'um! :D

Dee, Robin, Cmullin, Niahri, Amy and Terry - Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for your compliments. Sometimes they are hard to hear (read) and believe. Looking younger is pretty cool for me. I don't think I've ever been carded!

Good luck to us all, and thanks for the support. It sure goes a long way! :D

I agree... you do look younger... and is that the same cardy? Hmm? Need a smaller one me thinks...lol

Great job so far, keep up the good work!

Get some full body shots done (not to share if you don't want to) but I promise you that it is a great visual when you are getting smaller. I hated getting photographed too but I did and I am please that I now have the comparisions!! =]

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
