I Won't Make That Mistake Again !

Recommended Posts

So me, like I am sure a lot of you, got excited when I could eat actual food !! I am 14 days out today. I tried tuna salad -prepared in the can w crackers. Well, I don't quite know when I feel full yet, man I know now ! I ate wayyyyyy too much (1/2 the small can) and I was almost violently ill ! Bad nausea , ick...so I have come to the conclusion that 1...I have had a crash course in "full" and I cannot just hop right into food again. I took it easier for dinner and had some ricotta, cheese, sauce and mozzarella, like a mock lasagna and I ate only about 1/4 cup, maybe less ....

Any ideas for food in general, I can tell this is going to be slow and get old fast before I can eat "normally" again.

It might also be a little too heavy of food for you right now. I had pizza too early and threw that up because it was so dense in my stomach. It helps to slow down while eating so your brain and stomach are on the same page and you know when to stop.

I'm surprised you're allowed to eat something like that already. I couldn't have "normal" food until 3 months out and was on stuff like Soups, pureed, mash potatoes, etc until then. Work your way slowly into real food. Take it one step at a time. Your stomach will thank you for it. ;)

Please measure! Try two tablespoons and then wait--you can always eat more if you are not satisfied. It took me a long time to be able to eat an entire soft-boiled egg, but eggs are cheap so I didn't mind throwing half of it out. You kind of have to retrain yourself that you cannot eat the way you used to. I had good luck with seafood--2 shrimp, or 2 scallops--and less luck with fish and chicken. Wendy's chili or my own chili recipe was great. I would order a small cup and get four meals out of it but when I made my own there was so much I ended up freezing almost all of it. Deli meat--ham, turkey, beef--was easy to get down and one slice was plenty.

I am STILL having trouble regulating my "full" feeling. My biggest problem is that I eat WAY TOO QUICKLY!!! When oh when will I learn to slow down?!?!?! The uh-oh-I-ate-too-much moment whoshes up on my so fast that I've made myself sick a couple of times. I guess years of scarfing as much down as possible is a hard habit to break. So my big suggestion to folks is, eat SLOWLY!!

My suggestion would be to eat slowly. Put some food in your mouth, set your utensil down, and chew the crap out of it. Allot yourself 20 mins to complete your meal. Like Minaleigh mentioned items like pizza, our stomach handles the digestion of different textures differently. So, eat slowly. In doing so, it will allow the food to actually enter your stomach AND it will help you understand your own personal FULL feeling.

My full feeling is a small burp. That tells me that I am either almost full or eating too fast and not allowing my food to digest.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
