What A Great Year Its Been! Pictures Included

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to share with everyone that the decision to get sleeved on April 26th 2011 in Tijuana Mexico was literally the best thing that I have ever done and my only draw back was that I didn't do it sooner! This time last year I was freaking out about having the surgery, going to Mexico by myself and starving due to a month on the liquid diet, but I would do it again in a heart beat! If you are thinking about getting the surgery DO IT! don't even think about it not getting it done!!

This may sound normal for a lot of you, but a lot of little things changed this past year like how people act towards me, its sad to but they act much nicer and more respectful, I've had a few girlfriends(which before the surgery only had one ever) I run up the stairs without getting out of breath and my feet never hurt anymore! I know it may sound funny, but when I think about all I do is smile. I love when people ask what the heck happened to me, it makes me feel like 1,000,000 bucks!

Heres a few pictures from the past year:

You look great! It is such a shame how it changes the way people treat you but it is so true. About 6 years ago I lost 50 lbs which didn't make me skinny but I looked "healthy". I totally noticed how people's treatment changed and after I gained the weight back I was back to being the girl nobody noticed. It's not even about sexual or flirtatious treatment either. People in general are just nicer to you. The one thing I looked forward too is being physically comfortable. I miss that. Oh! And can't wait for my feet and back to stop hurting either! Waiting, waiting, waiting.

You look like you are having so much fun! I definitely agree the VSG is a great decision. It amazing how much can change in a year. I really hope I have a post like this in the next few months.

You look fantastic and so positive! I have wondered, though, do you tell people who ask that you had the surgery? I've been very sensetive about telling anyone and always wonder how others feel about that. Does it minimize the 'accomplishment' of geting healthier and fit? Bear with me, I'm trying to mentally deal with what's to come---the good and the strange. LOL

Good for you! Keep taking care of yourself--fantastic work!

Amy :)

do you tell people who ask that you had the surgery?

At first I mostly just said i'm eating differently, which was exactly not a lie lol Now i'm really open about it and people really like to talk to me about it.

You are so incredibly handsome

Hey! Thanks!

You look Great! Congratulations on your success. What would you say has been the most difficult part throughout your journey?

The most difficult was having to stay on track and not fall back into the same ol' bad habits. I went a month at one point that I had to buy new clothes weekly, which was bitter sweet haha

Thank you everyone else you just really made my day :D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
