Hey ThinningMike... the Cytomax pure Proteins are being remarketed as "whey (something I can't remember if it's whey isolate or whey protein) by cytomax". I buy them by the case and just an fyi. They aren't gone from Vitamin Shoppe (or anywhere else) but they are repackaged.

Sadly I was so happy that they weren't gone. What a robust life huh? lol

Thanks for this info. I just bought three cases of the Isopure. I probably shouldn't have done that because I just can't stand the taste. Fortunately, my husband is into Protein for his body building, and so he can drink them. Yuck! It's the aftertaste that really repels me.

You guys are welcomed to ask me anything anytime... I was originally sleeved 3/5 and then d/c'd 3/7. 3/9-3/14 I went back in the hospital with pneumonia, then 3/19-3/29 I was in the hospital for a leak and abscess. I had a revision to my sleeve 3/20 as the staple slipped. My tummy necroted away from the staple and caused a leak. It happens to 1% of the population so no worries, I am the one for the year people. :)

I just got off of a clear liquid diet (yes since essentially 3/5) and I've lost about 51 lbs. in that time.

My tummy is now acting 'weird' whenever I try full liquids... so if you have input on that, hit me up please! :)

4ALongerLife,

What were the symptoms of the leak/abscess? I am curious how people know what is normal after surgery pains and illness and when it is something requiring medical attention like a leak or an abscess.

Hi Suzcomptime! I had extreme pain in my left side. It was the abscess (where my body sucked the leaked contents and tried to singly put it into one area to protect me... our bodies are so amazing, but mine was still in A LOT of pain).

CamarilloCA, where did you buy those cases of Isopuke? I mean, Isopure :) Sorry I hated those, they tasted like watered down Protein bullets which make me wretch. But fyi, GNC and Vitamin Shoppe have really GREAT return policies. Vitamin Shoppe is like 30 days on returns I think. Keep your receipts - you can even bring them back opened w/in so much time.

I LOVE the Cytomax Pure Protein clear liquid drinks - specifically the tropical (which is green and I call it my nuclear kool aid) and tangerine. They are much more flavorful. I have a watermelon one chilling in the fridge to try as well (as they were on 50% off since they are remarketing them and renaming them, but thank you jeeshus they are still making them!) lol

and btw, I LOVE your picture... that's too cute!

Thanks so much, 4ALongerLife, I did buy them on the Amazon web site, and The Vitamin Shoppe was the seller. We've already opened all three boxes and sampled them, but I could return two full boxes of mostly grape and mostly pineapple Orange banana with Alpine punch mixed in. I may try that. They are nasty. It was $47 for 12 bottles. Thanks for the tip on the Cytomax. I'll definitely give that a try.

That's me -- serving up chocolate chip Cookies, or I guess that used to be me!

Well, I just checked, and I can return them, but I have to pay for return shipping. I wonder how much that will cost as those cases are really heavy. Darn it. I'm an idiot for buying a case without trying them first.

By the way, it sounds like you went through quite an ordeal. I am so sorry about that but glad you are okay now.

sorry on the returns in shipping and handling cost! i've been finding out about that lately myself (i am looking to try strawberry mousse from nectar Syntrax... that's a good mixing Protein powder and you can buy 13 bags of trial sizes for like 11 or 13 dollars on bj bariatrics.... i didn't ask for strawberry mousse and i bet i'd love it). anywho, my apologies on your ordeal with isopuke. some ppl rave and love it, not i popeye.

cytomax pure Protein is undergoing a remarketing i just found out this weekend. it'll be called whey isolate or whey protein in Vitamin shoppe but still by cytomax. the ones that i like are 160 cals and the bottles are about 20 oz and 40 g of protein (to anyone else that might be reading this and wonders!).

yeah i'll miss Cookies lil monster, but nothing taste as good as being thin feels..... or so I hear! he he (hope we ALLLLL know soon!) hugssss

Thanks again for that great information. Yeah, I found out that shipping two cases of Isopure back to the distributor will be about $80.00 for a $56 refund. Fortunately, my husband can tolerate them so he can drink them.

Thanks again for the tip on Cytomax. I'm going to order some.

I've been drinking the Premier vanilla shakes RTD from costco, and they aren't bad at all. I hear that powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury shakes are pretty good too if you want to check out their web site: http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/ I've heard people say good things about their chicken Soup.

At my doctor's office, they have Bariatric Advantage, and people seem to like the nectar flavors.

Speaking of Cookies, my husband bought some Protein bars from costco that are seriously good. It tastes like you are eating a chocolate bar. They are made with whey Protein and are three grams of sugar or less and range from 180-200 calories per bar. The flavors are chocolate Peanut Butter, Chewy Chocolate Chip, and Chocolate Deluxe. I had a half of the Chocolate Peanut Butter for dessert tonight, and it was yummy. There is 20 grams of Protein per bar. It is called Pure Protein High Protein Bar, and it comes in a three pack.

I'm trying not to despair over Cookies. I think we can still have one once in a while. The good news is that we won't be able to eat five at one sitting anymore:-) Hugs back...

before my leak i loved premier Protein drinks, so thanks for the tip on the bars, i will have to try those next!

as for now, it's midnight in texas so i'm heading to bed. wishing you sweet dreams (and sorry on the isopuke, thank god for your hubby.. mine's getting the strawberry premier Proteins i bought actually too! lol)

Awe, that must have been hard to watch your family eating those yummy, albeit fattening, things. Good for you for being strong! Tasting and spitting out food is okay if it gets you through a craving in my opinion. I know someone who did that throughout her journey, and she lost over 100 pounds.

It looks like you are doing great at 52 pounds lost.

Yeah, it's definitely good that our hubbies are good for disposing of things! LOL!

Good night and sweet dreams also. It was great chatting with you.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
