I am post op day 5 and feeling great. I'm finding it tough to drink all my fluids but working on it,

What I;m finding is my breath is really nasty. My boyfriend thought it smelled like moth balls. Even I notice it! It's nasty. I have been brushing often and using breath strips but it just sits on top of the odor. Is it something that will go away? Is it from the surgery itself? or the not eating or being in ketosis? any ideas?

I hear ya on the bad breath...ugh! I've been told it happens when you're losing weight. So, I guess it's a good thing. I think it eventually goes away, though. Thank goodness...lol.

Ketosis breath.

DH and I were in the car yesterday and he kept asking me if I passed gas. I'm like, "Not since surgery..." Then he was trying to see if we were behind a cattle truck or something. Finally he's like, "It's your breath..." Thanks DH!

Chewing parsley helps, but it's not very good. Other than that, "safe" breath fresheners like the Listerine sheets that meltaway are about all you can do.

I have had terrible bad breath! It is good to know the reason for it now. At first I thought it was because of the Protein Shakes I was drinking, but the breath got worse after surgery and I thought maybe anesthesia had something to do with it. It's good to know the real reason.

I am glad this was posted, my breath since the surgery has been terrible. It is embarassing to be asked if you "let one go" when it turns out the stench is your breath.

I think my breath is getting better. My friend admitted last time we got together it was bad , but she didn't notice this time. I'm three weeks out and finding it's easier to eat a little more and drink more. ( still under 800 calories , usually 500 a day ) Don't know if it is my diet, my Water, or my stomach healing , but I have hope I won't smell like moth balls out of my mouth soon lol.

At least it's just your breath! My whole body chemistry changed. My breath, urine, and body odor. My doctor laughed as I was carrying on about the stench. He said eventually it will go away. It's ketosis. Hang in there!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
