Carbs Carbs And More Carbs

Recommended Posts

So I've seen a lot of posts about trying to stay low on carbs. Im one month post op and currently Im averaging about 800 calories a day and 40-60 carbs.

How many carbs are you guys eating daily?

How do you reduce your daily carb intake?

Thanks

I'm 15 mo out, trying to lose the last 15 pounds, I've lost 100 pounds so far. I try to stick with 600-800 calories, 40 grams or less carbs, and close to 100 grams of Protein. I'm getting ready for plastic surgery in about 6 weeks so trying to keep the protein high. I do add a bit more carbs and or calories on days I workout hard ( more than an hour). I log all my food on myfitnesspal which has been the best tool ever to keep track of it all! To keep protein high tends to naturally keep my carbs lower because I don't have much room in my sleeve for a whole lot. So I eat protein and what little room is left I have some lower carb veggies and a little bit of fruit. No refined carbs. Green veggies and lower carb fruits in small quantities. This is what works for me and others I have talked with. Let me know if you have any other questions.

In order to eat under 40 carbs a day I had to eat only Protein when I was losing. My Calcium had carbs, my half and half had carbs (can't drink my coffee black) and even my Vitamin had carbs. I ate loads of shrimp, fish, steak, and ground turkey with almost nothing else. At about 7 months I started to add in small amounts of green veg, fruit, and more dairy. It was hard but it worked for me.

I ran 80-100g per day of carbs thru the early part of my weight loss phase (I never wanted to give up the nutrition that went with those carbs,) increasing toward the 120g level after 3-4 months when I selectively added more complex carb to better fuel workouts. That never seemed to bother my loss rate (I really wouldn't have wanted to lose any faster, with goal reached in 7-8 months).

I am low carb, but mainly because I can barely get my Protein mins in now (with a shake too), so to add in more carbs wouldn't really work for me. I plan on adding in carbs when I want to hit maintenance. To stay low I just eat protein. I don't eat rice/pasta/bread/ etc (actually, most of those my sleeve can't handle). That being said, that is what I do on a regular basis. I don't forbid them. I had a scoop of ice cream the other day and when I made Cookies for my cousin I had one of those too! No big deal for me.

During my hardcore weight loss months, I was getting around what you are right now. I personally don't see anything wrong with your intake, are you losing? If so, I say if it's not broke, don't fix it. ;)

However, how much Water are you drinking too? That makes a major difference.

Yeah I'm still losing I just want to make sure I'm losing at an optimal level. I get about 60 oz liquids on a good day

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
