What about orange juice; can you have oj?

You can try it, but dilute it first.. Not only is it entirely too sweet, it's also incredibly acidic and tough on the tummy...

Hi Lilee,

As others have said, thank you for pulling this summary of "Sleeve Literature" together -- it is most helpful, and clears up a couple mysteries for me.

One mystery I still haven't figured out is the term "Onederland", which I believe you use on the bottom of your messages. What does it mean?

Thanks!

Sissy Kay

Sorry, I don't get on here much anymore so I never saw this question. Flax seed should be fine once you're back to a normal diet, but I'd avoid anything like it (including chia seeds) for a while after surgery until your staple line has a chance to heal. Check with your doc though, he/she may have a different opinon.

You're quite welcome! "Onderland" is the magical place that only existed in fairytales pre-sleeve. It's that onderful amazing point at which the number on your scale starts with a "1" - hence the term "One-derland" ;-)

I have a quick question. I'm 5 days post-op and feel terrific. However, my incisions are very itchy. I know better than to scratch them directly - is there a lotion or salve that is safe to use?

Try calamine lotion or benadryl... Even oral benadryl applied topically should relieve the itch. Try not to apply it directly to your incisions but rather around them - you don't want to do anything that could risk infection.

I am 10 days post-op and am having tremendous difficulty breathing. I can only walk about 4 or 5 steps at a time before I must sit down. Without being too graphic, I am also having explosive and sudden bowel movements. My Dr. will probably have my head but I took 1/2 of an Imodium tablet last night.

Has anyone else has this experience? I'm desperate.

The liquid bowel movements are completely normal. The difficulty breathing on the other hand does concern me. Are you walking often? Do you have any other symptoms? Are you having any difficulty hydrating? Any pain in your abdomen other than your incisions? Running a fever? Feeling exceptionally nauseous?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
