Your Healthy Go-To Food

I just have to point out that, while I liked fish before surgery, I absolutely love it now. I really didn't like shrimp before...love it....didn't like salmon...really love it. Sashimi is now my dinner of choice or I go to the fish market or grocery store and get a small hunk of it for dinner. And because I eat it more, my husband eats it more....in turn making him healthier too. And the best part, while it tastes absolutely fantastic...probably cause I'm lacking the nutrients fish offers....it is SO easy on the sleeve. Chicken is okay, but can make me nauseous at times....fish never does.

Anyone else found a healthy food that they used to dislike "before-sleeve" but is now your go-to?

I loved those salads too, with all the delicious veggies, so now when i want a salad ill save it for dinner. Then ill have a 30 Protein shake or shot for breakfast, then another for lunch, then pig out on my salad for dinner without worrying i didnt get enough protein.

Great idea! Especially if you know you are going out to eat!

Awesome idea! I love my salads and this gives me a way to make sure I can still eat a nice salad! Thanks!

Cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. I'm addicted to the stuff now. Also, I always only sort of liked fruit. Now I cannot get enough.

Cottage cheese and beans pre op I hated, now I love it! Didn't ever think I would either.

Chicken is always my go-to. I like beef too, and can tolerate it pretty well, but my sleeve LOVES chicken! I have experimented with lots of different ways to cook it so it doesn't get boring. I got burned out on cottage cheese and greek yogurt after my first couple months post-op so I pretty much don't eat much of either of those anymore.

At the risk of imposing, but given my husband has been so great and helped me so much since I had surgery, I wanted to help him. He entered this St. Paddy's contest on Facebook and he really wants to win the case of guinness. Would any mind going to the link

and selecting the line "So drink up and sing cheers, this we do recommend." For my part, for every sleever that votes, I'll add 2 minutes to my treadmill time!

Roasted edamame yummy

If you vote for us, just make sure you tell me so I know how many extra minutes I need to add to my treadmill time. :)

Thanks Felicia!! He WON!!!! Yeahhhh!! It made him so happy :-) Its the little things. If anyone else voted, there are some people that voted that I don't know. Just let me know on here and I'll make sure to add the time to my treadmill time. 2 minutes for Felicia!! :)

How far post-op do you have to be to enjoy edamames. I'm on soft foods now. That was my go to snack pre-surgery and I am really excited about reintroducing these back into my diet.
