Cooking And Bad Habits Creeping Back.

Recommended Posts

I am back home, cooking almost every day after not cooking for 8 months. Now that I am cooking my own food I find it harder to stick to my diet plan. I tend to taste my food too much, and that is not good because I am trying to stay in ketosis. I don't know if it is because I missed my own cooking, but I keep tasting stuff, stuff like Pasta, and other carbs that I want to avoid. For me eating stuff that is not low in carbs is bad, even if its just a little, because I find myself liking the carbs more and eating more of them. I also noticed that I have been eating more, I still eat too fast and I eat more than I should, and then I'll feel too full. To avoid the too full sensation I have started to really pay attention to my body, and when I feel like I am about to be full I will give my plate to my sister and tell her to eat it or throw it. It is a good thing that I don't serve myself much or I would feel guilty about giving it to my sister. I am a little disappointed in myself, and appalled that I was falling off the wagon and I wasn't even noticing, but now that I have noticed I am holding onto that wagon tighter than before.

I think recognizing what you were doing is a major achievement!

I think before, at least for me, we would give up on dieting. We'd fall off that horse and say screw it!

Now, if we fall, we have to get back up on that horse! Never give up!

You know what the basic's are for the sleeve. You follow that and you will succeed!

Yes, it is hard when you cook your favorite foods. I'm noticing that I'm eating more and I get fearful I'm going to gain weight. I just need to chill. ;)

As others have said, you are recognizing the problem- so that is an awesome start. Something that might help motivate you to stay on track is to remember there is a honeymoon period. You really want to take advantage of that time as much as possible. You can do it!

p.s. Carbs are a huge demon for me as well. It's ok to give yourself a treat, otherwise you may end up obsessing about what you can't have. Something that has worked for me is tell myself that when I reach "x" goal, I can treat myself to this... It was different all the time. It might be like when I hit onderland, or when I reached a new BMI level, or maybe even just 10#. I don't overdo it, but I do the "planned" treats so that it acts as motivation for me to get to that goal and then I get right back to the plan. Like you, ketosis has been key in my weight loss. Not everyone does that, but everyone is different.

Thanks for your words! I am feeling much better today. My sister and I were joking around this morning, talking about how I was gonna cook plain meals, no more jazzing them up =P (she is trying to lose weight too).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
