Whats The Best Cream Soup With Most Nutrients

Recommended Posts

Am on day 6 and wanted to know if anyone has a favorite cream Soup to add to my picky diet. I have tried a creamy Tomato and basil (chunks strained out) a couple spoons full of powdered fat free milk mixed in. Pretty tasty but not filling.

Are those considered cream soups? I bought cream of chicken, cream of ..., I didn't know that the other soups counted. Do they make you feel full? Sorry for the tons of questions. Just not getting that full feeling that could sustain me.

At that stage I had Lipton Creamy Chicken....the one that comes dry in the packets and you add Water. I would then mix it in a Blender Bottle with a scoop of unflavored Protein Powder (I used Isopure Unflavored and I couldn't taste it). I usually had that 2 to 3 times a day. I also purchased a coffee cup warmer on Amazon for about 7 bucks so that it would stay warm since it took me so long to drink it.

I have no tips on cream Soups as I was told to stay away from cream soups. I don't think you are going to find any that have much Protein in them, that is what you need to sustain you. day 6,I was still on full liquids, drinking mostly nasty tasting Protein beverages....lol. seems like those 4 weeks of liquids lasted 6 months....I drank alot of muscle milk shakes, those have 20grams in each 8 oz container, if you can tolorate them, it's great source of protein. I loved them, still drink one every day.

Best of luck

Great question.

Purdy, did they tell you why you should stay away from cream soups? Is it because of the carbs?

I liked Anderson Split Pea. It has 9 grams of Protein per cup. I could eat about 1/2 cup max early on.

Can you have greek yogurt? I like Fage 0 Plain with some Splenda.

Nice idea with the warmer...looking for one tonight.

Hi there, I'm on day 12 post-op. The best one I've found so far and it's really hard to find is Campbell's cream of chicken WITH HERBS. It is delicious! I've only been able to find it at Smiths grocery store (in Nevada), not sure if you have a Smiths in your area. I also made pea Soup and lentil soup from scratch, they both tasted fine with added unflavored Protein powder.

mybariatricpantry.com has some cream Soups too, I haven't tried them, but have heard that the cream of chicken is good.

Yes, most Soups are high in carbs and way too high in sodium...= not great for losing weight

By book says to stay aaway from all chowder soups, potato soups, noodle soups.(cream soups)

Good Luck

You know, when I was still on liquids, I didn't have any restrictions from my Dr. about how often I could eat (or should I say drink). I also had a lot of restriction at that point and that cup of Soup would definitely fill me up. And because I was using unflavored Protein powder that I added to EVERYTHING I was always getting my 80-100 grams of Protein required by my dr.

Did that make you full and sustain you.

I was told I could have creamed Soups but NO chunks. This is for weeks 2-6 weeks post op. Condensed Creamed soups Soup be made with skim milk. I love Split Pea Soup so I put the light or Healthy Choice...liquefy in a blender...add a half can of skim milk... blend it some more the I strain it. There isn't much flavor in cream of chicken soups or potato soup in my opinion. I have tried liquefying other soup and diluting them with Water, but nothing is as good or as satisfying as my split pea soup

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
