Just Got My Date....march 19Th

Recommended Posts

I feel like I'm on the fast track now...3/19. I'm so excited that I can hardly stand it!!! :)

Starting "Phase One" of the Pre-Op diet tomorrow.

- No starches or simple sugars

- Cut meal portions in half

- Eat Lean Protein and a vegetable or fruit with each meal

- Consume 2 servings of dairy per day

- Take 2 adult multiple Vitamins per day

- Exercise at least 5 days per week, increasing intensity and time. Increase time intervals by 10 minutes each week

Definitely, do-able!

I'll probably get more restrictive eating orders within a few days since my date is so close.

Doing EGK, chest x-ray, and blood work this week.

Hope to meet a few sleeve-sisters or brothers!

Congratulations to you both. I'm 8 weeks out and I was scared to death. There were a few hiccups, but everything was ok. I'm loving my decision more and more with each day.

I had 9 previous abdominal surgeries due to a nasty staph infection after a hysterectomy. Due to this the surgery was a little trickier to navigate through all of the mesh. It almost had to be completely open vs. laproscopically. Then, I got dehydrated. It was hard for me to find things to get down, but this site was a big help with solutions. I stocked up on crystal light lemonade before surgery, but to this day can not tolerate it to get it down. My go to drink is Decaf unsweet warm tea (helps in the morning) and then iced cold the rest of the day w/ lemon added to it. Adding lemon to my Water helped for some reason also. Then I had a deep vein thrombosis in my arm where they tried to do the iv. I have had a stroke at the age of 32 (35 now) so when I saw and felt what was happening I got to the er pretty quickly to get it broken up. This is not something most people would have. It is something I am prone to. The biggest advice I can give is to worry the most about getting the liquid in (warm chicken broth went down pretty well and it counts as a liquid). You don't want to get dehydrated. I was so worried the first week because I couldn't get enough Protein in me. My doc told me at my first post op appt that it was normal, but he didn't tell me b/c he wanted me to try. The second week was much better with the protein. So, don't worry yourself so much over that. Just keep sipping from the time you get up until the time you go to bed...

Thanks melissa! Only other abdominal surgeries ive had were having my gallbladder out after preeclampsia(but she was not a section baby not enough time) and a partial tube removal after an ectopic so I don't think I have too much scar tissue. I do worry about the clots though. Any suggestions on that worry? I am glad for you other tips and I am sorry things were bumpy for you

I'm scheduled for the 19th too! I'm so glad to have others here with the same date. I had my gall bladder removed back in 1987 so I have a large scar but the surgeon said it probably won't be a problem.

i don't really have much recommendation about preventing the clotting. They did give me anti clotting injections in the hospital. I think that helped a lot. When I was 2 weeks post op my doc had me starting on an asprin regimen again, but not until 2 wks out though....I'd say the injections at the hospital was the best to make it not as serious as it could have been....Good luck to you all.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
