Happy 1 Year Sleeversary To Me!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 3/1/11. I am feeling mixed emotions. I am so happy that I was sleeved. I wish it was 3/1/11, it felt as if I was reborn!

However, I am very disappointed in myself. Is it normal to have only lost 69lbs in a year? I am 30lbs away from my goal :( I am having a hard time.

Is there anyone out there who had this problem? I wanted to loose 100lbs by today! Please help, I am so depressed and feel like a major fat ugly looser!

Congrats! You are really close to goal. It seems like the closer we are to goal the weightloss slows down. Do you exercise?

honestly I stopped excersizing due to a death in the family. Got very depressed and stopped going to the gym. I should stop whining and go back, huh? lol i guess i am use to watching the fat melt quickly... I feel so depressed, I don't feel like I lost 69lbs at all. still feel 240lbs!

I understand why you would stop, life throws us so many curve balls. You've done great so far, it's a journey and it doesn't end, it's a lifestyle so you gotta keep going! 30lbs- you got this! Stay strong and set mini-goals, it really helps :)

You started at a lower BMI, so you are going to lose slower than other people. But, it's great that you've lost 69 pounds and you can lose that 30 pounds if you just stick to what you know is right, lots of Water, enough Protein and exercise!

I can't wait until you post that picture saying "I got to goal!" :)

Congratulations on your 1-year mark! Don't give up hope! I'm 16 months post-op and still not at goal yet either! It is not a race (although it is hard to see someone come on here and say I'm 6 months post-op and at GOAL!!!!) Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them, but that simply is NOT my story. What I do know is that if you don't "work" your sleeve you won't get results. I say this from experience and also from watching my hubby. He is sleeved (1 year will be March 7th) and I think he has lost about 65lbs in this past year. He also has about 25lbs to get to goal and when I asked him (he's been stalled since before Christmas) if he thinks he is done or he wants to lose more, he said he's not DONE yet but hasn't had MOTIVATION to work his sleeve. So he eats smaller amounts of food, but doesn't measure his food, nor track his calories, nor does he monitor his carbs, and he's fallen off the exercise wagon. So basically he felt like the stall was his own doing, and I'm not sure where he will find the motivation to get the last of the weight off, but I told him to not give up. So that is my advice to you, is to NOT give up. Just because you haven't lost -100 lbs in a year doesn't mean you CAN'T lose -100lbs. Just going to take you longer, but you will get there if you want to badly enough. Hang in there!!!

We forget that 69 pounds in a year IS A LOT! I too wish to get to goal in a year or less actually, but I now realize your story is not unusual and it can easily be my story. You are not alone and you are not a failure. You are here now and ready to go! Happy surgiversery!

You are doing great! ou had a lot less to lose than alot of us so the weight will go slower. I know that a loss of a loved on can do damage, that's how i gained the last 50lbs. THINK about what you have accomplished, you will get to your goal you still have your sleeve. Can't wait to you post you got to your goal! We believe you can do it, all you have to do is believe it too!

thank you all!!!!!! you all have motivated me again :) I use to be a size 22 and now a 13 so I need to chill lol. I need to plan my meals again and have a work out schedule and not let this depression get to me.

I guess I compare myself to all 4 people that I personally know in my family and a friend who had the gastric bypass but they all weighed approx 300-400lbs and in a year they lost over 100lbs. I am different because they were bigger than I and I had the sleeve. I do not regret the sleeve at all. I am happy with it!

so today I will start up again.. I am rereborn!!!

Hi JaspersGirl-

Today is also my one-year anniversary too and I also have about 30 pounds to go. I would encourage to not put an expiration date on weight loss. This is your journey and it's not something that has to be completed by a certain date. Reevaluate if you need to but don't get discouraged. We'll get to goal as long as we believe we will. :)

Amanda
