Gone For Good Club- August 2006

Happy August 1st everyone!!

This will be our home for the Gone For Good Club – August Challenge.

For any newbies out there, the gone for good Club is our way of “banding” together for support and encouragement as we take off those pounds…(I know, cheap pun)

…Once each pound is lost, we consider it Gone For Good!!!

Weigh ins are on Wednesday in this format: current weight (total loss, this weeks loss) like so: C-350 (-36, -2) This person’s current weight is 350, they have lost 36 lbs so far and they have lost 2 lbs this week.

Feel free to join at any time, by posting a brief introduction for yourself and let us know what you are challenging yourself to. Whether you are banded or not, we are very happy to have your company!

This is not a competition, but just for a little added incentive to each of us, FunnyDuddies has promised a gift to the biggest “loser”, and I will be awarding a prize to the participant with the most creative exercise idea during the challenge.

This month’s challenge will involve keeping a close eye on our BMI’s (Body Mass Index) Here is a link to a BMI calculator so that we can make sure we are all using the same one:

http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/adult_BMI/english_bmi_calculator/bmi_calculator.htm

So here’s the challenge: Let’s see how much we can lower our BMI’s over the next few weeks. I want to hear that we are all guzzling our Water, eating healthy, and moving, moving, moving. The more creative the exercise the better! Share your ideas…

And we are all going to try to fight those demons who lurk in closets and cupboards…the one’s that make us crave no-no foods and try to convince us to slip into our old habits and negative patterns. We are united, we are strong and these pounds will soon be GONE FOR GOOD!

Welcome to the club for August, and good luck!!:clap2:

Sunshine

PS

Just a reminder, when posting on this thread, please remember to take out the check mark on "show signatures". This can be such a long thread, that it gets hard for those on dial up to participate. Let's try to keep it as "clean" as possible.

Thanks!!!

I've been surprisingly happy with that scale. I think my favorite thing is it's consistancy.

The old scale we had you could stand on it five times and get five severely different readings.

This one is rarely variable between weigh ins (no matter how light I try and stand!).

P'Dawg.

Yeah, I try to sneak up on the scale as lightly as I can! I do make sure my toes are in the same place every time just to be sure. I used to know just where to stand on my old scale to insure the lightest weigh-in.

Me too! Hanging off the front as far as possible! LOL :pound:

Fortunately being somewhat taller, I can hang onto the closet door frame at the top.

It's amazing how much weight that can shave off :)

On a side note, my diet modification is driving me close to insane.

Because I wasn't getting enough protein I decided to punish myself still further.

Here's my current Menu:

Breakfast:

Can of tuna.

Lunch

Can of tuna.

Dinner

Healthy choice meal.

Supper

Periodically been having a Banana and Milk. Smart sugar right before bed (skipping this tonight).

I'm going to die of mercury poisoning but not obesity damnit!

Yes, I am taking vitamins too.

This should mean I'll have eaten 172 pounds of tuna by the end of the year. Fabulous.

I tried that once and almost went face first into the tub when the scale tipped forward! When I finally got back on I had gained 2 pounds from the day before. I tried to put it off to scale error due to scale trauma but I think it might have been the 3000 calories I had consumed the day before (I really needed a fill and grazed all night at a party!)

I even resorted to holding the "girls" up one morning but, of course that didn't work! DUH! I have wondered if I could get an accurate tummy apron weight if I scoot the scale up to my counter and set my excess tummy on top. Or perhaps have my husband support my "girls" while I am on the scale. I'm sure he wouldn't mind. :)

*laughs* Oh my gosh.. Linda I'm seeing that vision of the girls knocking together over the bathroom sink! Too funny!

*clack* *clack* *clack*

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! That's not imagery I want everyone imagining! It was bad enough that I was in front of a mirror.

Why do you think I chose a cow for my avatar. It's "udderly" appropriate - believe me!

Darn, I keep having to edit out my signature because I am using the "post quick reply option!"

I forgot again!

Udderly understandable.

At least I don't have to worry about them shattering like the real things. Although if I get them going in the wrong direction, I suppose I could give myself a black eye or two. Ok, enough... really goodnight this time!

*laughs* Now that is my image of pom poms.

Nite Linda. Thank you for helping me so much today. You are an awesome friend.

I'm back! Judah (my 10 year old son) bought himself a Vault this evening and he is not even close to ready for bed. I wish I had his energy on a regular day--tonight he is bouncing off the walls literally and non-stop yacking! I told him to go play his gamecube so I have some time yet. This has turned into such an enjoyable evening!
