I'm Having A Really Hard Time

Recommended Posts

Well, I started my pre-op diet about 2 days ago, and I want to give up. I feel like Im starving myself. Diet consists of:

4 Protein Shakes (Breakfest, lunch, dinner, Snack)

6oz greek yogurt

1/2 cup tomatoe juice ( which I dont like)

1/2 cup farina ( have yet to try)

1/2 sugar free pudding.< /p>

Maybe Im just being a baby, but I dont know if I can do this for 2 weeks. Ive already cheated by eating carrots!!!

You CAN do this. It's hard because of the emotions you are going through & the drastic change for your body ... from eating whatever you want to being structured.

But, you CAN do it! Just remind yourself that it's only 14 days.

Can you call your surgeon's office and ask for substitutions for items you don't like? Maybe they can help. Also, drink lots of Fluid - it will help that "starving" feeling.

We have all been in your shoes! Trust all of us when we say it will be so worth it! Just take one day at a time and if that's too hard, break it up into 4 blocks of time. It is hard to overcome the emotional rollercoaster that you are on, but trust me when I say you will be so happy that you did this!

When I did the pre-op part of my diet, if I felt hungry I had a glass of Water. It didn't necessarily help with the hunger pains, but it made my stomach full. I kept telling myself, I only have x number of days to go. I did cheat one day, but stuck to it for the most part.

I wish I had better words of wisdom, but it's tough! Just hang in there and keep your focus on your end result.

Trust me you can do this!! I was were you we're just last week. I am now 6 days post op and it is still tough but I can tell you that this stage is getting you ready for the next stages. I was with a couple of girls that were sleeved on the same day as me and in my conventions with them they told me that they turned in the wrong amount of weight for pre op so that way they could cheat and not get caught. Well I don't know if that had anything to do with it but they all got sick and was throwing up after surgery sand I have not gotten sick once!! Just keep drinking your Water and it will help with the hunger pains away!!

I had a hard time too the first 2 days. But I knew that the point of the pre-op diet was to lose enough weight to lower complications during surgery and that was more important to me than a few bites of forbidden food. You must keep first and foremost in your mind at all times why you are doing this and it'll make it a lot easier. Also, space out your shakes and Snacks every 2 hours or so. That really helped get me through the day.

The first few days are the hardest. It will get easier, not fun, but easier. It's a journey for sure. Hang in there, you can do it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
