Constantly Having To Spit

Recommended Posts

So,

It's gotten to the point where my job does not want me to come in, if i keep spitting in their damn trash cans because

the cleaning crew is getting grosses out.

For about 3 weeks I constantly get a clear salivia under my tounge that I have to spit out EVERY FEW MINUTES

If I have cotton mouth, it becomes thicker. If I swallow it, I become nausious and I gag on thick salvia from accidently swallowing some.

The only thing my dr. can say is that "it will go away soon"

this is effecting my work.......

who can I see about this. its watering as im typing this and I have to gease it out.....

the gross part? I was able to fill a baggy 1/4th with just spit. it never stops.....

I don't know what this is all about but I am 14 days post-op today and I spit also, but it is not a constant thing. I have not returned to work tho and will not be returning for another 2 weeks.

*sorry this might be a bit gross*

I had this problem big time after surgery. I was carrying around the spit/barf bags that hospitals give you for 2-3 weeks. I made sure to bring some extras home. I would wake up from a dead sleep having to throw up because of all the spit that would run down my throat while I was sleeping. It was horrible.

I think it's pretty rude that your work told you not to come in because of something you can't help. Maybe every so often cover the top of where you spat in the trashcan with tissues?

I don't really have a solution. Mine just went away on its own. It did, however, seem to get better after I progressed a bit more through my food stages. How far out from surgery are you and what stage are you on? After I got past the liquid stage and through most of the pureed stage, my need to spit decreased dramatically.

It sounds like what happens with the slimes..... But if its constant, i dont know. I also sat with the trash can spitting into it many times after lunch. Are u on an acid reducer? It seems like your tummy is in overdrive for some reason like when you get the slimes.

I cant just spit in a Bathroom. I'm a tech and the business depends on me being with my customer at all times with exceptions for breaks and emergencies. They don't consider spitting every 5mins an emergency.

I'm on previcid. Should I change it? Been on it for weeks.

Since you're still early out you may want to double up on your prevacid, but please get the ok from your Dr. I think it will go away on its own too, but I have no idea when. It does sound a lot like the slimey's I've seen others mention. I know it has to be annoying and embarrassing, do like the country boys here in Alabama do with their dip (chewing tobacco) Keep an empty 20 oz bottle just for spitting in. Just be careful not to accidently "drink" it. ewww I totally just grossed myself out with that visual!!! Good luck!!

I experienced the same thing and it literally took months to clear up and at 14 months isn't entirely gone either. I got (still get somewhat) a frothy spit. It was, as you say, real bad at first and I was constantly hocking up loogies. Perhaps carry a cup with a cap on it like people who chew tobacco do? I still get a lot of buubles in my spit for some reason too. I chase them around my mouth with my tongue. Weird, eh?

It sounds like you are really in a tough place as you certainly aren't doing it on purpose.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
