Rico got a reaction from SkinnyOnMe in I Find The Operation Stupid
First of all i'd like to kindly ask everyone to calm down and lets discuss this issue seriously as many people can learn from it.
If Hamanyq8 is a registered member then he has the right to post whatever he feels he needs to talk about whether we agree with him or not. I'm not defending him, i am like all of you who are genuinely trying to help him and others who might be facing the same issue.
I think whats happening to Hamanyq8 has a lot to do with his psych. Being afraid to swallow is not uncommon among sleevers. Most of us know for a fact that VSG is a positive life changing procedure. However, some patients are faced or become aware with the down sides of the operation before actually experiencing the positive.
Hamany has a new stomach and he has to understand this and accept it mentally first in order for his body to accept it too. The way i see it is that his brain is still in pre-op state while his stomach is post-op and for him to actually start his VSG journey correctly he needs to sync both organs to post op. Once this is achieved it will all be smooth sailing from there.
I know a couple of friends who have undergone VSG and faced psychological difficulties have seeked professional help/ therapy and are now enjoying their new lives.
My advice however is to first stick to a diet plan approved by your NUT and if the problem persists try therapy.

Absolutely normal Enjoy your journey as Lissa said. We ALL surrender to our cravings every now and then but the key thing here is not to make a habit out of it .. and that's why we are all here now to break our bad food habits
    Good luck

Rico got a reaction from anngee in 16 Weeks: Putting My Sleeve To The Test!
I want to make something very clear before i start. This is just a one day test .. a test to see what my sleeve can and can't handle at 16 weeks. I do not condone anything of what i am about to share. This is a test and should be used only as a source of information. I am doing this so you won't have to!
So at 16 weeks out i want to see what my sleeve aka "Bananaman" can handle in terms of type and amount of food.
Two tests: Sodas and fast food
** NOTE: My findings are short and to the point ... If you would like more details about each test please send me a private message and i would be very happy to share it with you.
    Test 1: Sodas
I had three 330 ml diet cokes throughout the day. Of course i could only drink about a third each time before feeling full.
Verdict: It was not uncomfortable. On each try the soda went down fine and stayed there. It felt "fizzy" on the way down but after a few seconds it was okay. It tasted a lot sweeter than it used too before VSG and that to me was a big turn off. Although it was fine on the sleeve i'm not going to want to have anymore.
This finding was based on Diet Coke. Other brands and flavours could have a different outcome.
Test 2: Fast food- McDonald's chicken McNuggets + KFC + Burger King's Junior Whopper
At about 2pm i had some chicken McNuggets.
Verdict: I could only eat four pieces with BBQ sauce. I was surprised because it felt normal like any other day only quantity was effected here. I didn't have trouble swallowing the chicken or acidity issues with the BBQ sauce.
At 5pm i had KFC. I ordered a dinner Box (three pieces of regular chicken).
Verdict: Horrible! The worst feeling ever! I couldn't finish one piece. It was oily and i had major acid re-fluxes! The food wouldn't stay down and had slime for about 15 mins after eating.
At 8pm it was time for Junior Whopper from BK.
Obviously, to try and make this test as realistic as possible for sleevers i had to remove the bread on top but left everything else on it.
Verdict: Couldn't stand it. It was so heavy i couldn't keep it down. I was full from the first bite and it took me ages to chew. It really wasn't pleasant at and as with KFC i also had acidity issues and slime.
I know there is a ton of information and many testimonials on this forum about the information i just shared with you but i just wanted to contribute my personal experience.
Many members might say "you shouldn't have done this test" or "why put your sleeve through all this .. not worth it" etc... Well they are right but i think it is well worth it if it could help people answer their questions.

The sleeve is not only about losing weight, its about changing your bad eating habits, the habits that got you here in the first place.
The surgery solves only half of the problem. The other half lies with your attitude towards your new stomach and sticking to a healthy diet plan. Otherwise why do the surgery at all?
    Good luck

Conrats on the amazing weight loss so far Yes you are perfectly on track here .. however i urge you to do some excersises to maintain your muscle mass.
In general weight loss tends to slow down after 8-10 weeks. Excersising regularly can help shed off weight and even break a stall.
    Good luck

Rico got a reaction from ncstatebabe in Weight Loss After 4 Weeks Of Vsg
First of all i agree with Abacoraveness you have to get the all clear from your doctor.
I started to walk 5 miles a day about 2 weeks out. After 4 weeks i was covering 10 miles holding very light dumbells (5lbs each).
Week 5 is when i really hit high gear. I joined a gym and did serious cardio and light weight lifting.
To get the best cardio results make sure you have adequate resistance. You have to make it a very challenging workout and burn at least 500 calories each time you're on the treadmill.
As for weight lifting make sure its light reps nothing too serious.
Have a Protein shake in the morning on your way to work and another one right after working out.
Sticking to your diet plan is a must. Stay away from carbs and focus on protein.
This is what worked for me but every body deals with weight loss differently.
I hope this helps with your VSG journey:)
    Good luck

I agree with Lissa. Search for arm workouts on YouTube. Tons of material on there for you to choose from.
I would suggest a light push ups workout right after waking up in the morning and just before bed.
