March Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

Surgery was a week ago tomorrow. My last sore incision felt significantly better today, it had really been pinching until then (it's deeply puckered, I call it my button tuft incision).

I'm able to eat between 3 & 5 tbls of food a day, depending on thickness. 2 - 3 tbls of broth, or a tbl of yogurt, pudding, or cottage cheese. About 2 tbls of a thick, strained Soup. I'm not really ever feeling hungry yet, but I do feel a bit gurgly once or twice a day.

The pain with drinking has almost subsided. Today I was able to take 3 very small sips with only a few seconds in between. This is the first day I've been able to drink more than one small sip at a time. I stop before there's pain, but there's still pressure. I'm still having a hard time getting more than about 25 oz of any Fluid in per day - hopefully it will start getting easier soon.

My first post-op is Wed. I'll know scale change then. I'm not expecting much since I'm still taking predisone (allergic reaction to meds from surgery). The meds I have to take are definitely still an obstacle to eating/drinking more. I have to take sucralfate (4x daily) to keep the predisone (2x daily) from irritating my stomach too much, plus the omeprazole (2x daily). Just my meds keep me stuffed for several hours.

How is everyone else doing?

Oh and energy is still fine. I'm trying to spend 4 - 6 hours a day up and/or out of the house. Family is still getting home cooked meals (important to me). I'm not yet driving myself as I can't comfortably turn enough to see over my shoulder, and I'm avoiding tasks that require lots of bending - still a bit too sore in the button tuck incision for much of that. Energy level is OK until about 6 or 7 and then I need to rest, but I have _plenty_ of energy reserves. :)

I'm going to try the zoo with DD on Thu after my staples come out, and we're taking a short out of town trip this weekend. I'm probably back to 85% - 90% normal feeling now.

Gotta tell you....I had my sleeve done in Tiajuana 3/15 and it was rainy and cold the whole time I was there! I was not expecting that kind of weather, I thought I was going to FREEZE!

I don't know what was up with the weather out here...I'm just glad we are back to the normal low 70s :) Yesterday was beautiful and I went to the zoo with my family and husbands cousins family. The big plus was it was the first day I didn't need pain meds, the bad news was I overdid it and today my back hurts sooooo bad(previous back surgery). Other than that I feel great and am down 8lbs since surgery!

Hey March Sleevers - Are you doing anything special for Easter? I mean, it's not like I can eat the "usual" Easter meal - at our house that would consist of ham, deviled eggs, potato salad, leafy salad, etc. My mom is cooking a large lunch meal, so I'm sending my DH to eat at her house (which is next door). I'm not sure I can handle walking into Mom's house and have the smell of Easter lunch hit me. About the only thing I COULD eat at this point would be the deviled eggs. How are you guys going to handle it?

So I am making dinner. Stupid right? You would think my daughter could do it since I can't eat anything, but no, mom is still having to make dinner. I am just going to do my best, which will be hard since I love ham and all the stuff that goes with it....one thing I was thinking was taking some and putting it in the food processor and making like a puree kind of thing, but I think the looks of that would be so gross it would prevent me from wanting to eat anything. So I don't have any helpful suggestions since I am trying to figure out how to handle it too. :(

WTG on the 8 lbs. Yes, I was disappointed, I had never been to that part of the country and to have the weather be crappy was not great. I actually went to the mall in Tijuana Saturday night to buy a sweatshirt! crazyness!

I am glad to hear all is well post op so far....I am doing well too. Someone asked me today if I still had pain, I was like heck no, it didn't even hurt that much when I had it done. Very cool as far as I am concerned!

Easter dinner will depend on if any of my family brings something over! My husband and I take care of my parents, who eat very little. I am 2 weeks post- op tomorrow, so I obviously won't eat much! And my husband is happy with a sandwich. Maybe I will just make egg salad!

Well our Easter celebration begins on Friday with our family's Good Friday dinner. We have a mix and match menu that demonstrates all of our Mexican American Lenten season foods such as: chile rellenos, potatoe patties with salsa gravy, nopales (cactus) wines with egg and dry chile, shrimp cocktail, rice, Beans, fish usually lincot or tilapia, and of course guacamole, and a bunch of dips and sides.

Sunday we usually BBQ carne asada, lemon pepper ribs, hot dogs, and all the rest of the good stuff.

I'm really enjoying typing all these foods lol. And I don't mind cooking at all. I guess it's because I love cooking especially for my loved ones.

I'm sending the family out to parents and in-laws. I can't afford to put myself through that kind of pain. I'm already hungry all time. On the positive side I'm down 23lbs as of day 10. I'm trying really hard to stay focus. I can't wait to chew on some meat though. ugh. How is your sleeve treating you so far

Hey Everyone!

Today marks 4 weeks post op. I've lost 33 lbs since the pre-op diet, and 23 since surgery. My starting weight was 257, and now I'm 224. The thought of food is very frustrating to me. For one, some foods don't taste the way I remember them, and I can only eat a few spoonfuls. Eating out with friends isn't what it used to be either. I'm usually done after a few bites, then I spend the rest of the time talking to them while they eat. While getting dressed for work this morning, I realized its time to buy new pants. The first pair I tried on was way too big, and the 2nd was big, but I needed something to wear to work. So, I get to go shopping this weekend.

My best friend for 15 years has been acting weird lately. She's been making comments like, I don't want to be your fat friend, I wish I could lose the weight, maybe if I was on your diet I could lose weight like you. Are any of you experiencing anything like this? If so, how are/ did you handle it? (sigh)

On a brighter note, keep up the good work everyone, I love reading your posts.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
