Overly Full On Phase 2 Foods. How Do You Get Your Protein?

Today I started phase 2 of my diet. Overly full on greek yogurt and mashed potatoes. How do you get your protein? I was so excited that I was able to eat that I think I over did it. I'm suppose to wait 1 hour before drinking too. At this rate ill be eating until midnight to get 60 grams of protein in. Did u find it easier to drink your protein in shakes versus food at this stage? I'm a little over 2 weeks now.

The only way I was able to do it was the protein shakes - and the only ones I like are the chocolate Premium shakes from Costco (30g protein). Good luck!

I like to drink the premier shakes from costco or sam's club. That is the best way to get our protein in. ;)

Awesome I will go to Sam's club tomorrow. What other protein products do u get from Sam's?

I used Protein shakes for quite a while until I could eat enough to get more than 60 grams of protein a day. I didn't eat mashed potatoes because there are not enough nutrients in them for my needs. I ate only a bite or two of veggies or fruit along with my protein and 1-2 Protein Shakes per day.

My preferred protein shakes are the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken flavor and Gold Standard whey in French vanilla, bleneded with Soy Milk or Starbucks Via Italian Roast Decaf or sometimes both.

At this point, you just have to get the protein in however you can. Protein shakes are a great way to do it, and amen about the Premier ones from Costco/Sam's! I'd avoid mashed potatoes if I were you. They fill you up quick and aren't a high protein food. Fat free refried beans were amazing on stage 2 for me, and eggs eggs eggs! It can get old but it's only for a few weeks. The payoff is so worth it.

I'm two weeks too and I can totally relate. I can now get the Protein in by starting the day with decaf coffee with 1/2 scoop unjury vanilla Protein powder. One scoop is 20g protein but I prefer taste with half scoop. I drink protein shakes or have Greek yogurt almost every day. Sometimes if really having desire for something with weight to it, will add full scoop of Unjury cheese sauce powder to grits or mashed potatoes but liken others have said, I try to avoid carby stuff. One scoop of the cheese sauce is 20g.

I also add the fruit punch flavored protein shots to sugar-free fruit punch/crystal light/watered down Gatorade. Protein shot is 25g. It's the only way I can tolerate protein shots. The rest that I tried I found to be pretty yucky.

We can do this! Some days I feel like I have worked so hard to get the protein in and then realize I did it but only ate 200-300 cal. Feels like a lot of work but totally worth it! Hang in there...

So sorry, guys!! I accidentally submitted my post twice and can't figure out how to delete the duplicate! I feel like a dingbat.

Premier is sold at Sam's club.

Yep, shakes are the way to go. I still use them! I have at least a few a week, sometimes one a day. I just can't eat a lot at a time, and rather than eat around the clock I'll just start my day with a Protein shake.

Protein shots are the way for me. I have found some that contain 42 grams protein and I can drink them in halves with crystal light. I don't even have to drink 2 full shots a day to get my protein in. Sometimes I drink chike strawberry shakes,,they are really good.

Good advice is often worth repeating :) No need to feel like a dingbat!

I like the unjury unfavored Protein powder mixed with Nestea boysenberry green tea. Feels more like I am drinking Fluid instead of a Protein shake and I get 20 grams of protein and only 80 calories. :)

You can also use the unflavored protein powder in a warm Soup if you want.

I have wondered this too. I'm 5 1/2 weeks out, and I drink 2-3 Protein drinks a day, plus I add unflavored protein to things. My nutritionist and doctor said that I need to expect that I'll be getting the bulk of my protein from supplements for the first 6 months. I aim for 100g per day but usually end up with 85-90. (Dr. said to get between 70-100, and that patients who get closer to 100 tend to have better overall weight loss and fewer side effects, like less hair loss.)

I can't for the life of me figure out how I will ever be able to eat enough protein when I am on ful foods. I just can eat such small amounts. Greek yogurt and cottage cheese are good sources that I like, so I'll keep them in my repretoire.
