Its Your Period Dummy!

Recommended Posts

YES, I hadn't had a normal period in 3 years before surgery. Then BOOM right away I get a flow from hell, and then another one 3 weeks later.

I visited the tampon asle at the store for the first time in years and discovered they made "ultra" absorbancy tampons now (one step above "super plus"). Let me tell you, they may seem like a good idea at first, but they swell up to the size of a baseball which makes getting them back out kind of tough.

Ahem... sorry, TMI. :biggrin2:

ETA: I think the period that came right after surgery was heavy because of the blood thinners I was on... I had the same thing happen after I had hip surgery before... but that doesn't explain Auntie Flo #2....

Girlllll....don't I know it! :incazzato:

Just sticking to regular now :)

Oh geez I am on here trying to get information about the sleeve, and sadly this thread has scared me the most! lol. I've always had mild periods and I've never had cramps before in my life! I can't imagine having them! haha.

I did have my period during my WLS... It was toward the end of my cycle and it did suck! The one thing that was concerning/different was... Sorry if its too graphic... The coloring changed to very dark almost black/brownish coloring. I'm not sure about any pain because of course I was already experiencing it. I'm not looking forward to my next one...

Yep...it's not the most fun side-effect. I have NEVER cramped like this...or been this cold...EVER. But, dang, I am cuuuutteee lol! AND feeling energetic and healthy! I do get tired spells still but that's when I am not keeping up with my Protein and Vitamins like I am supposed to. When I am doing those things, plus drinking my Water and working out, cramps and a rusty brown flow don't seem like a bad trade off :)

When I get hungry now instead of my tummy rumbling - I get a sharp pain in my back just below my shoulder blades....I had a hernia repair during the sleeve surgery.....so my hubby jokes with me that maybe they sewed something up there wrong....hahahha

I noticed as soon as I eat the pain goes away......too funny......so when my back starts aching there I eat! LOLOL

Yep my periods are back to being heavy....I read that we are dumping estrogen that was stored in the fat??????

I don't know but I wish it would go away!!!!

I was sleeved on Jan 23rd and I was concerned that I didn't start around my "regular time", but then Auntie Flo not only showed up, she came slamming into the station yesterday! I haven't had these kind of cramps since I was 16! I am better now but I don't think hubby slept very well last night with me up and down all night long! I hope this isn't going to be the norm! For years my period has come and gone without much incident, which I am grateful for. If I have to still have one I prefer it to be as inconvient as possible!

I got my period right after I woke up from surgery(go figure) and then it came early a couple of weeks later. I think I'm back to normal now. :blush2:

I had my sleeve on December 8th and started on the 10th. That one was normal but around the 28th of December, I had a two week one start that just kept going and going. I haven't gotten another and I should be due already. Today, I've wanted to eat everything in sight and It's only by the physical pain I have right now because I tore through a Chobani 2% that I am not eating. I MUST be PMSing. That or I have a mental tapeworm that thinks i need to eat more.

I sincerely hope I get my next one soon. I can't take many more days like this.

severe pain, nausea, vomiting, fever...that was my periods before surgery - about every 17 days - pain and nausea would start about 4 days before that. Lovely.

I had one right after surgery, its now been 2 weeks since and no signs of early period! I can HOPE AND PRAY that I have a regular cycle!

here's to hoping! :)

I got my period 3 days after surgery. I dont remember the pain because I was still on pain meds which probably helped with the cramps. I do remember bleeding a lot. I was told not to go back on birth control until 30 days after my surgery. My next period was bad with cramps and bleeding. I am now on birth control. 2 weekends ago, I started spotting, but i was 2 weeks away from my period. I was supposed to start my period today but it has not happened. Has anyone else had the same thing happen to them?

So i am 4 weeks out of surgery. Last weekend i started feeling this horrible pain in my back. Couldnt hardly straighten up and all i could do was sit with the heating pad. Finally after 3 days of the pain i call my surgeon. Nothing to do with my surgery' date=' he told me to call my PD. After urine sample we ruled out kidney issues, gall stones, UTI. I was all clear but the pain kept getting worse and worse all i could do was curl up and cry or soak in the bath. Then yesterday mother nature visited me. 2 weeks early! I guess thats why we ruled out PMS because i wasnt due for weeks. I have never had pains like this before and my PD explained that my whole body and hormones were changing and i was basically starting over, all the changes are sending my cycle into a tail spin. Now next month i will atleast know whats wrong if i get such awful back pain. Has anyone else experienced changed in their cycle or PMS?[/quote']

Yes, I thought I pulled something for a minute. Idk what I would have done without my trusty heating pad. I need to figure out what I can take for my cramps. I'm two weeks post op and don't wanna try pills yet, so for now I just suffer :(

Children's Tylenol doesn't work :( :( :(

I'm 4 weeks out and let me tell ya, my uterus feels like a dump truck excavating my body. I always had bad cramps, but heck, I have horrible cramps for two weeks, bleed for one, have 1 week of normal life then back at it again. Welcome to changing hormones!

Prior to my sleeve, I hadn't had a period for 6 years--I am on Depo. However, thanks to the assistance of the muscle relaxers I had to start a week after my WLS, I started spotting with slight cramps. I immediately stopped the muscle relaxers (I'd rather suffer than see Mommy Nature) and the spotting stopped. I just recently had my 2nd Depo injection since my sleeve and all is well.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
