Spreading some positiveness for the guys out there who are reading the boards. I was sleeved Jan 12th... officially down by my surgeons scale 80 pounds. I never had any issues after surgery with anything ...no pain. I'm able to eat anything I want but of course in lower amounts.
Here is what my plan has been so far
    - no fried foods for months now
    - no sugar
    - no soda, no beer! nothing carbonated...
    - no/very little carbs..NO bread..no Pasta no sweets of any kind
    - lots of lean steak, baked fish, grilled chicken, and ground beef. Chili is good too and so is beef Jerky
    - Lots of crystal light for when I'm tired of Water
    - Muscle Milk Protein shakes - vanilla is the best to me
    - Pure Protein Shakes as a change up - Cookies n cream is the best to me
    - Light cheeses as Snacks..string cheese
    - Atkins Protein Bars that are at least under 200 cals each
    - sugar free lifesavers are a great for when you want a "sweet"
    - My sleeve really likes wheat thins for some reason
All this with taking my Vitamins in the morning ...most of them are in gummy form.
Thought I'd give some guys out there some info of whats working

Take your time man. At six week its no wonder that soup and yogurt is what feels good because that is what your stomach can handle right now. You are trying to rush it. You put chicken and other dense foods into it....its saying...WTF...stop. Listen to your body.

    Hi Todd,
Don't worry, you will once again be able to enjoy eating and food again. Whoa... I wish this was me!! I love to eat, even though I can't eat a lot - regardless I do once again love it.
Anyhow, take your time with all of this. Be patient, and if you must slow down the progress of how and what you are eating then do that. I would do Protein shakes for a few meals per day and only eat one or two other meals. I also had to make sure my meats were puree'd and moist or it would sit like a ton of bricks on my chest.
Not everything will work either right off the bat. If you notice something is not working well, don't eat it again for a week or so.
Well wishes to you! Again, you are not healing or progressing any differently than most others, rest assured.

I know that before I had surgery I researched alllll of the good and bad. In addition, my surgeon was sure to explain to me of all the things that could go wrong. Although 'elective', this is MAJOR surgery, and definitley life changing.
I am sure most on here did the same as me. I have been reading your posts, and will take you for face value, and believe that you are just having a hard time with the after surgery life. We all are in one way or another. And I feel sorry for you. I am no professional, but I am a verrry positive person. I believe the energy I put out, is what comes back to me. I hope you understand that the participants of this forum are kind, and many ARE having a hard time, but keeping positive and keeping their eye on the goal of being healthy. It is simply mean to keep posting your negativity, without being constructive in some way...
I am only 3 weeks out, but if you need a friend to talk to, a support person, or someone to simply vent to, please message me, I would love to listen to your concerns, rather then seeing the negativity on here and getting everyone riled up...

I am waiting to have my surgery and this site really helps me understand what post-oppers and newbies are going through. I have already adjusted my diet to just under 1200 cals a day just to lose the 15lbs before surgery(11 off in 9 days). I practice chewing till mush,no liquids,30 minutes to eat.Put my utensils down after each bite Ect. Everything I can to get me ready for post op. Taking my vitamins. I also journal every meal,How I felt Ect. These things where asked of me by the program at Kaiser. I should be ready to hit the ground running. Well maybe not running but ready to do what is necessary to make this work. I do not know if all surgery centers are as proffesional or get there patients ready for life after surgery as Kaiser? The only thing that should change for me is the amounts of food and the 400 calories that I will be consuming after surgery. As of now I am doing everything that my program has to get me ready for my new way of eating after surgery. I WILL follow the plan EXACTLEY as asked of me. Why go through all the Mental and Physical pain to struggle or fail? We /you all need to take this seriously and always remember WHY we chose to do this. Especially when you feel down or struggle. Always REMEMBER the END GAME. How AWSOME we are going to look for the first time in Many Years for Me. Good luck to ALL!

For those of you who are all healed, losing, but winning how much can you comfortably eat at a time? For a typical Breakfast, lunch and dinner?
BS as I read through all of my nutritionists info, it was hard to comprehend when it stated "only one to three bites". LOL! I mean, yes, I understood, but I thought to myself "really? 3?". Now, a few weeks post-op I KNOW what TWO bites are!!!! Hahahaha! Wake up call! (For those who have not yet had surgery, "two bites, means 2 nibbles off of a baby sized spoon!"
I know it gets easier and better in time, and I know our tummies are 3-5 ounces once healed and unswollen... but I am curious to know what the "Bariatric Regular" diet looks like in terms of volume?
    Thanks! sabrina

Well I have seen quite a few of your posts now and it seems you are having a really hard time. I will also take you for what you say you are, who am I to judge right. Anyway, I have said this before to you but maybe you didn't read it. The thing is you already had the surgery so I really think you should try and make the best of it. It isn't easy as you know and it's a long hard process. You are not doing yourself any favors by eating the wrongs things and ultimately ending up in pain.
Why don't you try going back to liquids and starting over? You could also let us know about your weight loss, how much have you lost? When was your surgery? Where was your surgery?
Are you attending any support groupd where you live, you might find that those help you quite a bit, and may help you turn your outlook around. Good Luck.

if you have a juicer you can drink parsley and celery. And you have to drink lots and lots of water. Sounds like you're not getting in the water you need.

Today I went through the luggage closet in my house and found a bag full of clothes from various stages in my life, all the way back when I was 16 years old. I found 7 tops that fit, some still had tags from when my family gave them to me but I could never wear them because they wouldn't fit, and now they do! I found my favorite shorts from 4 years ago, when I was 245 and they fit! I found my favorite red skirt from when I was 245, and that fits too!!! I found a dress I wore when I was 16, a dress I wore when I was 17, my prom dress, my high school graduation dress, and a dress a wore 6 years ago and they all fit!!! I feel like I went shopping and I didn't even have to use my plastic!
    I love my sleeve!!!

Hey everyone! Everything went well. I woke up with a foley, sore throat. Now I'm laying in bed watching tv and trying to relax. I have some pain right under my sternum. Leak test tomorrow then probably stay one more night. I have to get up and walk soon. The meds are making me sleepy but I don't mind st all. Not as painful as I prepared myself for but I'm making sure to stay on top of the meds. I can't wait to progress!!

Its great to hear that mostly everyone is feeling good! I am at 2 weeks post-op today! Yay! Each day gets a bit better. I can finally start mushies today. I attempted to eat a peice of string cheese. I nibbled on it for an hour. Lol! Nothing is coming back up so that's a good sign! I am having a terrible time getting my protien shakes in everyday. I can't find one that I like. Also having trouble getting all my water in. I have tried Propel, Gatorade, and PowerAde, I can't stand the taste of any of them... I fear getting dehydrated, but so far I am feeling good

Ok so my surgery was January 31, 2012 in the first two and half weeks I lost 32 pounds and have been stalled for 2 weeksish. This has caused me to be so bummed. Even through reading posts about it being normal, and doing everything right: I'm still obsessed with the scale and bummed. My NUT said I already started out with a dramatic weight loss and I'll start to equal out and lose 10 pounds a month, conservatively.
However I am trying to focus on the positive. Therefore I am posting my first NSV:
    I HAVE A NECK!!
In my wedding pictures I was at my highest weight (still had an amazing wedding). However the one thing I noticed was my head looked like it sat on my shoulders. Yuck. Last night I went out with some friends and after being tagged on Facebook (I usually dreaded) I was happy with most of the pictures and noticed my neck (:
I also posted two pictures in my gallery and can see a little difference there as well.
Here's to more NSVs and a healthy journey! Have a fabulous Sunday, sleevettes!
