Delayed Again (abnormal Ekg) :`(

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just found out that my EKG, of all things, is abnormal :( The person I talked to said that there may or may not actually be a problem, but I have to have a cardiology consult to be cleared for surgery. So that appointment is on 1/20. At least it's only a couple of weeks away...still waiting to find out if I can do something other than an EGD . I'm self pay and insurance won't cover it EGD since "pre-op is not a diagnosis." Self pay it would cost me over $700 (WITH a 50% discount!). That lady really scared me with the EKG stuff--had to call my husband and cry about it a bit...I've never had a heart problem before, and I had a myomectomy last year with zero problems, even got to go home a day early because I was doing so well...just needed to vent, but I pray that this works out. My birthday is 2/14 and a sleeve would be the ultimate gift!

Just keep your chin up. I am finding that the doctor wants to cover all bases. I was delayed for a year and then I changed insurance and had to start over. We are now in the new year and I still don't have a date but hoping it will be soon. I just had my endoscopy today just waiting for the date for surgery.

Just say ok you can't stop me what next I will have this WLS for my health!!!!

Good Luck blush5.gif

I completely understand how you feel. I got an abnormal EKG as well and flipped out about it. I was able to get in to see the Cardiologist the very next day that I was told about the EKG reading. When all was said and done the cardiologist said that my heart was normal and they probably got an inaccurate reading due to all the fat that the signals had to go through. lol. He then proceeded to advise that I lose weight.... go figure.

I had the same experience as you! My EKG detected a septal defect. I was sent to a cardiologist and did an echocardiogram, and everything was totally normal! The EKG machine was just being overly cautious :)

Ok, so the cardiologist and physician's assisstant said the EKG doesn't look worrisome, but since I'm planning on having surgery, they want to do an echo and stress test just to be sure. That's scheduled for this Wednesday, so hopefully that will be the last thing I have to do before being scheduled for surgery. In other news, when I told the cardiologist I was getting the gastric sleeve, he said, "why?" I said, "It's weight loss surgery," he said, "yeah, but why? you look fine!" and made this face like I was crazy. I said, "um, not really," and he sorta laughed. I did the polite chuckle thing, but uh, was that supposed to be a compliment, was he just trying to be funny, or what?

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
