Calling All Long Term Sleevers: How Much Food Does Your Stomach Hold Now?

Recommended Posts

Great post...

At 18mths I can still eat between 6-8 oz of food in one sitting, this provides me with a good sense of fullness... anything more and I get horrible. I have started to weigh my food again, because I want to get to goal and to see how Mr Sleeve was doing... so, I can eat the same amount now as I could at 6mths with the same sense of fullness.

Hope this helps ...

I'm only 5 months out - so I'm not a long-term veteran - but I am at about 4-5 oz capacity. Here are some examples of what I eat at each meal.

lunch ~ costco chicken burger (about 4 oz) and 3-4 sliced cucumbers

dinner ~ 1 oz cooked Pasta (probably 1/8th of a cup if I measured it that way), 2 turkey meatballs, sauce and a tiny side salad (and a few nibbles of garlic bread, yum!).

Breakfast ~ 1/4 cup egg beaters, 1 oz Canadian bacon, 1/2 oz shredded 2% cheese, 1 sliced mushroom and a bit of diced Tomato.< /p>

I'm 7.5 months out.

Here's a typical day:

Wake up: Soy Milk Latte

Breakfast: 1/2 slice whole wheat toast, 1 C. Greek Yogurt made into smoothie with 2 strawberries, a splash of OJ, 1/2 C. Water, and 2 T Splenda

Lunch: Lowfat string cheese, 2 oz. lowfat Salami, 5 whole wheat wheat thin crackers, little cutie tangerine

Dinner: 3 oz. chicken, 1/4 cup potatoes, 1/3 cup vegetables

After dinner snack: 1/2 apple with 2 t. Peanut Butter

Wow. I wrote this forever ago! 2 1/2 years out, and I can eat a lot more than i'm happy about. I can easily eat about 8 oz. of almost anything. Straight Protein gets uncomfortable after 6 oz, but anything else.... I can hold too much, so i can't get sloppy.

Great post! As a 6'2" man I was concerned weither I wouldn't get enough callories with the standard size stomach that they leave you with. My Dr explained that because I am anatomical larger than a smaller- shorter person and as such I am left with a larger pouch. So this question my have some variables such as size and height. I am on soft foods and can eat a little over a cup at a meal with NO issues.

WOW, I am really suprised at some of these answers.

WIth me, it depends on what I am trying to eat. But if you follow the rules, Protein first

The Protein is much denser and is sitting heavy in the tummy.

So I can eat like medium chicken breast and maybe 1/2 cup of salad.

I am thirteen months out. I still feel restriction and get hiccups.

I'm 15 months out and here are a few typical meals I've had over the past month. 1 egg, 2 pieces of bacon and 1/2 a piece of toast 1 piece of super supreme pizza, hand tossed dough, didn't eat the crust 1/2 a sandwhich with 5-6 chips 2 string cheese with 4 crackers 1 cup cottage cheese 1 Jr Bacon cheeseburger from Wendy's w/o the bottom bun 3oz steak and two bites sides 1/2 a side salad and 1 bone of ribs + 2 bites of a side dish. 3 chicken wings and 2 french fries After each of these meals I am positively stuffed meaning I would get sick if I ate one more bite.

This was a good example to share. Thanks! Makes me feel like I can still have a tiny window or normal, just restricted some, which is fine.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
