One Thing I Can't Wait To Do...

Recommended Posts

I agree it'll be nice to not feel like I have to avoid the camera. My daughter is just wanting her and I to be able to go for a bike ride together. I think my thing though will be to be able to walk up a flight of stairs and not have to stop to catch my breath or to be able to go on a walk with a friend an be able to carry on a conversation without sounding like I'm gonna pass out. If I start thinking about it there are so many things that I am looking foward to, I can't wait to have my surgery.

...but shopping that is gonna a blast!!!!

I know EXACTLY how you feel. Right now my wardrobe choices are so limited. For me it's black slacks and some sort of top for work. Pretty monotonous. I'm going to try to set aside two or three bucks for every pound loss and keep in a jar until I reach my goal. And then, celebration shopping spree will definitely be in order! I know there will be some make-do sizes & needs in between, but I'm going to try to do second hand as much as possible as I move towards my goal.

THAT is a genius idea, my friend. I have been worried about how I will fund the "non-food rewards" that we're supposed to give ourselves for reaching mini-goals (pedicures are expensive!!). I am going make me a money jar!

LOL to all the previous post!

Same here. My co-workers always ask me why I only wear black! I can't wait to get into a flowy white dress too.

This reminds me of a time when me and my friend were going out. I got dressed in a black shirt, my famous gray sweater (the one that looks like a poncho) and my boots. I thought I was really cute until my friend told me I looked like an "old librarian" or a "school marm!"

Needless to say that I changed clothes! When I looked in my closet, all my clothes were black or gray or "librarian". ''

I CAN NOT WAIT TO BE ABLE TO FIT CUTE CLOTHES! In the meantime I am drooling over all you guy's pictures.

I just rocked out at Goodwill today! Because I'm trying to not spend much money I'm only buying simple, functional things I can wear to work . . . but I was so excited because all the pants I bought for work are either size 16 or 14!!! And I'm in an XL top . . . I even bought a couple L tops that are a little snug but should fit in a few weeks to a month.

You know what's great about not having to buy women's sizes? NO ELASTIC WAISTBANDS!!!!!!!!

My 14 yr old neice said I looked like a grandma the other day. lol I was wearing the ONLY thing that barely fit with a black cardigan like jacket over it and black flats. (since my legs swell and I cant wear boots) It was funny, I gotta admit, but I cant wait to shop and get stylish clothes!! I agree with the money jar idea that I read. For every NSV, put some money in it for when we reach goal and need to purchase our new wardrobe!

My biggest non-numbers/health dream is to fit in with my family. I have a husband and three small kids whose clothing I shop for and they are all VERY fashionable. I shop sales at great stores (Gap, H&M, Abercrombie) for all of them, then for myself I get various pairs of black and dark gray or brown yoga pants. I feel like such a failure next to them. I have THOUSANDS of pictures of my husband and the kids together because I think they look so fantastic and I don't want to get into the picture with them because I feel like I ruin it- and when I DO get in the photo, I make sure the kids are right in front of me and I'm hunched down a little so someone is blocking out the worst of it :(

I cant wait to put on jeans and wear a cute top that doesn't look like a dress and finish it off with a cute belt. I don't think I have had a waist for 20 years! LOL! Everything I put on makes me feel like I am just trapped in someone who isn't supposed to be me. I hope as I make the downward trek that I can start to realize that HeY! that is me and I like it!

I work as a bank teller, and when I go to the drive-up window at night all I can see is my own reflection. I keep thinking to myself, OMG I look nasty! I can't wait to be able to do a lot of things! Hopefully I will be ready soon. It took me a long time to get where I am now. A lot of stress of the not so nice (this site doesn't allow the words I really want to use) boss, who told me that VSG is for the birds and I'm taking the easy way out. I can't wait to be HAPPY again!!

It's so funny to me how since we started at different weights it makes our goals the same, but different. Here I am hoping to get into the size clothes you all can't wait to get out of!! Unfortunately I am also 6' tall so I can't even ask for your hand-me-downs.

I just want to shop at a store-any store! They make clothes for big people or tall people, but not big&tall.

Of course I have to make sure my shirts are long enough to cover my butt, so I have had to have my shirts made for me (pluswoman.com) for the last few years. At $100 a shirt! Needless to say I only have 3 different ones. And those lovely black elastic waist pants from Roamans.

I just can't wait to fit into a 28!! I have seen so many cute clothes online that go up to a 28.

It may take awhile-but at least I'm headed in the right direction.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
