I have this same question. I don't need to be able to down a bunch, but I'd love to be able to take a couple of big gulps without worry :)

I love to gulp Water and the thought that I woulnd't be able to was sort of concerning. It was a while, but you will be able to after several months. I am 8 months out and have no problem with water. Hang in there. Some things will be "normal" again, but you are on the journey to a whole new you. Enjoy the ride...Kathe

I'm already able to take one or two "gulps". I can take more then that but my doctor asked me not to so I don't stretch anything. Eventually we will be able to drink normally again. I believe my nutritionist said after about 6 months.

Yes you will be able to guzzle again yayyy!

Negative on the eating and drinking at the same time. That's the worse thing about the sleeve for me. But it's worth it.

I have made the mistake of drinking with some of my meals. I didn't conquer that particular issue well before surgery. It's painful. Also, not drinking with meals is for life :(

im only 13 days p.o and i can already take decent sized gulps without a problem so i would say you should be fine.. some people just take longer to adjust then others i assume. i know i shouldn't eat and drink at the same time.. but i randomly have lapses in my memory and forget im not supposed to do it and do it anyways.. lol and after a few sips i go ...oh crap.. lol let me put that drink down... funny part is there isn't any discomfort when i do it so i have to really pay attention.

Anyways, im sure it will get better for you over time.

Yep, you'll be able to gulp drinks again. I do it when I take pills and I'm about 4 months post-op. Not drinking with meals, yeah, it stinks, but that one's for life, just like taking Vitamins daily.

You'll be fine! Once you adjust to it, you won't even think about it. You will just naturally skip the drinks while you're eating.

I am only five days out and I am having to consciously slow my Water drinking. It is going down quite easily. I am surprised. I hope it stays this easy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
