January 2012 Sleevers!

Rather than keeping the old January (2011) thread resurrected, I thought it was about time to start a 2012 thread.

I'm scheduled for January 23, 2012, and just got my official insurance approval yesterday.

I am absolutely PUMPED about this surgery. I can't wait... I'm anticipating crazy nerves as it draws nearer, but for now, I'll ride the wave of excitement, thank you very much. biggrin.gif

  • I'm done!!! I'm sleeved!! It was almost totally painless! Tomorrow I will probably be a little sore. Not taking any pain medications and I've been out of surgery for 4 hours now. Good luck everyone el

omg i cant wait!! i just got back from anesthesia clearance. i dont have a pre-op diet, do you?.... just supposed to do all liquids 24 hrs prior, but im trying to do my own pre-op diet (mostly liquids) up until surgery... im failing bad.

yeah I've got a 5 day liquid diet. Not too big a deal :)

I got my approval today and my surgery is next Friday. Pre op class is on the 25th. I'm doing a self imposed pre op diet starting tomorrow. I'm going to a buffet tonight, already planned. Since I live in Vegas, I wanted to do one last seafood buffet because I won't pay the prices afterwards to eat 3 shrimp. LOL!

Now, I have to find a way to break it to my 5 year old.

Day 13 of liquids...oye...This is also my last day of work...getting kinda nervous now for sure! :) Come on Monday! :)

My surgery is Tuesday at 8am so essentially 4 more days. The cold feet are really starting to set in... ><

My surgery is at 9:30am, I must check in at 6am. I'm very excited, no cold feet yet. I just hope I get rid of this cold by Tuesday. STAY POSITIVE!

Have to be at hospital at 5:45 am on Monday, which is perfect as I probably won't sleep all night anyway. They are calling for sleet Sunday night and I don't want anything to keep me from getting there so I am staying in a hotel Sunday night. Maybe my sis and I will catch a movie. :purplebananna:

I'm not nervous yet, maybe won't be, just excited!

Reading this board with everyone describing their feelings as we wait for our surgery dates is so comforting because it makes me feel like I'm not alone. I am on day six of the liquid diet eight more to go. It is So hard! I have ate a few bites of cheese the last two days. Other than that, I have stuck to it. I am down 6.6 lbs. so that is encouraging too.

I hope everyone that has already been sleeved are continuing to improve and feel better. Those of us still waiting, we can do this!!

Thanks Ela, the nausea is better and the pain is apparently gas. Holy cow I never imagined gas this bad and it just won't pass lol so I keep walking and walking

they are saying that is the worst pain...are you taking any meds for gas...walking is the best way to move that air out :)

I am taking gas ex chewables and walking as much as I can around here with the snow and the ice. I do go up and down my apt stairs. Everything seems to be moving now lol

January Jewels Mine is on the 25th almost 3 more days OMG!!!

Well, I am 4 days since my sleeve. The gas is AWFUL! I have only been able to get in about 40-48 ounces but the nurse and the other support group people here said it's fine but keep trying. If my urine starts getting dark or something to go in and get IV fluid. I think it has been going pretty well. Last night I was in pain so I took some of the Lortab elixer. But during the day I don't need it. I just need the gasx strips. Other than that, things have been going okay. My family still needs to eat and everything looks and smells delightful. But I know I can't eat it and I really don't even want to eat it. I just like the smells.

Like Em, this is day 4 post surgery. No nausea, headaches or dizziness. BUT... The pain from the incision where they took out my stomach hurts like crazy! I have to literally hold up my stomach when I walk cuz it just feels like that cut is stretching everything and it hurts!

Anyone else experiencing this?

The gas isn't that bad, so that's good.

Still don't regret it!

How exciting! Two days for me and still battling with a cough. Good luck!
