Recommendations For Time Off Work?

Recommended Posts

After getting sleeved, how long is a good time to take off of work? My Dr. recommends 4-6 weeks to allow your body time to heal and to get to know your new tummy :). He also said if I have to I can go back sooner...just no lifting over 10 pounds for 6 weeks. I was wondering what yall's opinions are after going through this. Thanks!

Yeah, wow ... 4-6 weeks ... I don't know what I would have done with myself. Sleeved on Friday, back on Wednesday. I worked about 3/4 day for the rest of that week and full from there forward.

I think it best to get back into the groove of life as soon as you are able to. Don't push too much, but at the same time, we all know what idle hands are ... :smile1:

My Dr recommends 2-4 weeks and I took the 4 weeks, very thankful I did. There is a lot of exhaustion in the beginning, even after going back at 4 weeks I needed naps on my lunches. A friend of mine went back after 2 weeks and she said she really could have used another week. I say plan for the 6 weeks and if you feel up to it before, have your doctor release you sooner. I could not have gone back after a few days, there is no way!

I went back to work on the 8th day after surgery. Doc pulled my drain at 11am and I was doing my thing by 1 pm.

I am planning on two weeks, I work from home and have some flexibility if i need to extend it or arrange my day to fit in a nap, so that is my plan. What kind of work do you do? Maybe the doc suggested that based on your type of work?

I've gone back and forth on how much time to take off -- but since I've found that I can be out on STD, I've decided that I'm going to take 3 weeks. My thinking is that if I don't have to rush back, that I should take the time to get a feeling for this new way of life and get comfortable before I'm back in my regular routine.

I am a veterinary technician...which can be pretty physical at times :) Thank for all your advice...I guess I'll ask for 2 weeks off and then maybe see if I can "play" receptionist after that-so nothing too heavy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
