Congrats!.. be prepared. strengthen legs with exercise so its easy to get up and down. Know you will feel less than great day 1-2 for sure.. have someone there for you to help you. Take an eyeshade , its hard enough to sleep it blacks out the room. I took a computer didn't touch it, nor magazines, nothing. Just make yourself get up and walk a few times per day.... try to sleep! its a sleep depriving experience all in all, very hard to rest in a hospital.

Prepare for possible nausea, gassiness, pressure...

Pain is tolerable..with pain meds.

AND GOOD LUCK!

Congratulations! It is so exciting. I am 9 days post-op, and my hospital experience wasn't bad at all. I agree with what was mentioned above......get up and walk as soon as you're able. I was up at 3 AM walking. I've has no problems so far. The walking helps with the gas too. Good luck to you!

The surgeons office submitted my paperwork to the insurance company BC/BS Federal on November the 15th. I was approved on the 17th....Then I just had to wait for the surgery scheduler to call me to schedule the date for the procedure. When I originally went to the "seminar" in late August I had it in my mind that I was going in for the lapband but then changed my mind to the sleeve after researching the band. I had to go to a baratric doctor for 3 months prior and do the nutrition appointment as well as a pysch consult. It went really smooth for me. I had my primary private practice physician send my weight records which had a lot of notes about me and my weight history. I am so ready to change my life. It is funny how people that I tell say "What! Right before Christmas!!" and another person wants to take me out for my "Last Meal" They make me feel like I am a prisoner on death row picking out my last meal. I guess it is kind of like I am "putting to death" the old me and starting a new life. I am so ready!! December 21st: The 1st day of the rest of my NEW life!!

Thanks for all the advice!! I'm making my list!!

Also trying to wrap up all my Christmas shopping and getting everything wrapped so I can just rest up after surgery and enjoy Christmas. The less stress the better!! Hi Diana69, I'm in the same situation as my date is also on 12-21, I'm both excited and nervous. However, getting everything ready for Christmas is helping my nerves. I wish yiu all the best and a speedy recovery!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
