Cons of the sleeve- It does not make you magically get skinny with out any hard work. Booo. I was dupped!!

You still crave junk food and you still have to fight the urge to eat it. it is true you cant eat a whole box/bag, but you can still eat more than you should.

You can't drink liquids like you used to so it is a struggle to stay hydrated.

Ya know even as a big mama I was always freezing LOL!

I think the main con for me, is not being able to drink with my mini meals :(...yup I think that's really it for me.

Hey Tiffany, the good news is you will be able to drink normally after some more time. It proably took me about 2 months to be able to drink like I did prior to surgery. I love Water and staying hydrated is not an issue for me. At first, it was a chore and it just keep getting easier with time.

As far as my only con for the sleeve is I do get cold, this used to not be an issue. It is worth the trade off to lose that weight.

Regarding the Water consumption issue, Kemo is right. Time heals this. I can drink a gallon of water a day without issue now - and even gulp my water. :) That said... I'm still cold. Haaa!!

Coops - I hear you! I can't wait until I can stop dousing myself with baby powder to soak up some of the sweat. You can put on more clothes to get warm but cooling down when your heavy is no fun!

I am not ALWAYS hot, but I definitely get warm, hotter doing simple things like tying my shoes, just bending over to put on my socks etc. Huffing and puffing (we all know about that) when you walk, I can't wait til that stuff doesn't happen anymore.

I also agree, i would rather be a little cold and have to wear a nice sexy sweater to get warm :smile1:

There is always snuggling up w/my DH in front of our gas fireplace

I am always freezing too and prior to surgery I was the one at the office with my fan running when everyone else was running their heaters. :) But, I wouldn't trade my sleeve for anything. I've lost 43 lbs in 11 weeks and already left diabetes and high blood pressure far behind me.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
