-I STILL insist on drinking my coffee before during and after my Breakfast (the same cup).

The other meals I don't seem to have the temptation...

-chocolate chips are my OTHER husband. It appears we are married too.

I do measure and log them into my fitday EVERY DAY.

-Sometimes I eat my carbs FIRST.

I do however manage to get my Protein in every day...

How about you?

I do the same. Some chocolate chips and fat carbs will not do long term damage. Over this holiday period I have had my share of leftover halloween candy and apple pie for Thanksgiving. My weight fluctuates nicely between 190 to 193 even with this, I am nearing end of month 4.

I drink, a little Water here and there with meal to wash some things down but purpose of not drinking is to let food sit in stomach longer to feel full longer. Try to drink a half cup 1/2 hour before and then another half cup a 1/2 hour after eating. Try not to drink during but I don't think if it is only Breakfast that it is a killer.

I have 10 to 15 pounds to go for final weight goal and only in month 4 so I am not worried about some treats. I have seen other postings where people are really worried about carbs, they taste so good. If you control yourself and don't let them control you, go for it. Geez, i can't imagine I did all this just to avoid potato chips the rest of my life! I could have done that without surgery.

You guys have done very well with your sleeves. Congrats to you!

When I went to the Psychologist for testing, and evaluation, one thing they said to me was I tend to question authority. This is very true and I laughed when I heard it. I just want to make sure that I am not going so far out of bounds of the "rules" that I sabotage my success. I am trying to be empirical, and track what I eat and remain conscious of where I deviate from the rules. I am still losing weight and feeling good. I think I have fear of gaining back... because that is my past experience. I am trying to navigate the course of going to someplace I have not been before. I like coming here, because there is lots of empirical experience along side of reiteration and interpretation of the rules to inform oneself. Thanks for your experience and advice.

Ha!!!

Nice post :-) I eat 5-6 times a day and as I get further out from surgery, some of those mini meals are not very nutritious. I eat Chipins (chips made from popcorn) if they are in the house. They are my cryptonite.

I have found some high Protein chips on line I order once in a while to feed my chip cravings. Also if you add cheese or hummus to the chips that helps to mediate the carbs. Love me some chips!

As long as you're conscious of what you're doing and are logging all of your food, I think you're doing exactly what you should be. No one will be uber strict for their entire life, and I think it's better to learn to live and function with normalcy (ie chips when you crave them) than to expect to deny yourself of them forever. You just have to take them into account.

This is the method I am using... so far so good...

Are we talking "chips" as in potato chips or as in baking chocolate chips? Either way, I like them both! lol And my bad habits are driniking with meals - (I have ALWAYS even as a child drank copious amounts of Fluid with meals and before and after! lol)

I have also gotten into the habit of eating some junk - not logging food - not weighing everyday - yep, it's that season! Gotta shore up my habits! NOW!

I've been at goal since last March. I have gained about 5 pounds. Going to try to lose that with another 10 or so.

Erm, bad habits! Well, food wise I am ok with what I am doing now. I allow myself a lil treat now and again...

But my real bad habit is not believing in myself... not recognising how well I have done and generally being too hard on myself... booo me ...lol! I am working on these mind, and slowly getting better x

Sometimes I start eating sugar too much, then I have to sugar-fast for a few days to stop it... like right now. I guess seeing I've already hit two goals I shouldn't be too disappointed, but now that I'm working on my 3rd and final, I kinda have to kick my own butt on this one! THANK GOODNESS I can't eat too much or it makes me physically sick!!

I don't chew my food as well as I did when I started out....

Thanks for sharing everyone! It's good to have a realistic view of ones behavior... NO MORE HIDING! In the past I never told anyone how much I weighed, when I hid food or ate alone, or how many servings... Its good to get it out in the open and go from there.

....And to see how much success there is here even with the bad habits!

  • I eat too fast.
  • I have a mostly liquid breakfast and I spread it out. I start with a Soy Latte then about an hour later, I have a Yogurt shake and 1/2 piece of toast. My program calls for three meals, not to take more than 30-45 minutes per meal and to get nutrition from solids.
  • I skip my exercise here and there and don't make it up.
  • I eat a little junk food here and there.
  • I don't eat the recommended amount of Protein (my program calls for 65). I do get at least 60 grams per day.

Nobody's perfect!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
