4 weeks out... and...

Recommended Posts

down 27 lbs. I'll be honest and tell you that I'm a little disappointed. I lost only 2 lbs this week. still having trouble getting the Protein in and my calories are probably under 600/day. just no appetite or desire to eat at all. I walk most days for about 30 mins. any suggestions to help me boost my loss? thx

Im in the same boat as you...sleeved on sept 1st and only down about 27-28 pounds.. was losing about a pound a day steady for a few weeks...now it seems its slowed greatly... i really hope I havent hit a stall. Either way it can be kind of discouraging..knowing you're eating well under a certain amount and drinking plenty of water..yet nothing is moving on the scale. I stay 'lifted' by my clothes though.. putting them on and feeling how loose they are.. that keeps me smiling

Likewise.. especially so early out. But we'll get there..one day lol. As long as the scale is moving downwards when it DOES move, im grateful. LOL

Ladies, I was sleeved September 1st too, and I stalled for two weeks. I've lost 22 lbs to date and I have NEVER lost that much in less than a month and a half. Stalls are inevitable for some, but you will get through it. The scale will move again. Just follow your Dr.'s plan.

I think you all are doing great! I am 7 weeks out and down 29 pounds - which I am thrilled about! I knew I would lose slower than bypass patients, so I am trying to be patient, and just enjoy that the scale is LOWER every week. I have had my moments of HURRY UP scale, but I am FEELING so good that I tell myself to relax and enjoy the process.

Good luck to all of you! :-)

Jen

To the OP . . . 27 lbs divided by 4 weeks . . . almost 7 lbs per WEEK! That is amazing weight loss when you think about the "typical" dieting weight loss of 1-3 lbs per week.

I'm 9 weeks out and only down 38. I'm trying to roll with it and I know that as long as I'm sticking to plan and exercising, the weight WILL come off.

I just want to point out you did not gain all the weight in a couple of months give it some time. You will lose the weight. Maybe look at your percent of weight that you have lost from the weight you need to lose. I am 8 months out and have lost 63% of my excess weight. Jai Marie by my calculation you have lost 17% of your excess weight in 6 weeks. That is amazing!!!! ( amount you have lost / total needed to lose). May bring more perspective to the weight lost. Dream life by my calculation you have lost 31% of you excess weight in 6 weeks. I think you should be really excited for that amount lost!

Well since u put it like that....;) lol

But yea I know it's bound to come off.. Anytime u drop a significant amount of calories creating a calorie deficit, it WiLL come off ... Surgery or no surgery...

My typical day used to be :

Breakfast - 2 sausages and 3 scrambled eggs from mcdonalds

lunch - 2 jr bacon cheeseburgers, 5 pc nugget and fries from Wendy's

dinner - 12 piece nugget, large fries and a large sweet tea.

EASILY more than 3500 calories per day.. Now im maxing 500 a day

I say tell yourself this ... "Wow, if I can lose at this rate for another 3 months, I will be down over 100 lbs!"

My 2 cents,

-Pete

I feel like Im on the other end of the boat Im losing weight way to fast and Im trying to slow it down I've lost 32p and im 4 weeks post op 22p since the surgery. The slower it comes off its better for your body in the long run and also will help with loose skin. Your body needs time to adjust good things happen in time. Good luck !

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
