Psych Clearance Frustration

Recommended Posts

So I finally got a date the last time I met with my surgeon - October 17th. (SO CLOSE!) He asked me to lose 10 pounds before the next time we met, and to meet with the psychiatrist again for the final clearance. The first time the psych wanted me to get stable on my antidepressant before clearing me. So I lost the 10 pounds and met with the psych. All good, right?

Well, the psych told me he needed to get in touch with MY psychiatrist and therapist first, and that it should only take a few days. It has literally been a MONTH since then and he hasn't managed to get in touch with the psych yet (he did call the therapist.) My psych claims they've been playing "phone tag" but I suspect that neither of them have really put in the effort. I mean, how hard is it, really? A 3-minute phone conversation?

So either way tomorrow I'm starting the liquid fast, even though this might have to be postponed. They can't send everything into insurance without the clearance, so I still might get bad news. Ugh! When I told the surgeon about this last Friday, to his credit he was pissed too and told me to call him if I don't hear anything from the coordinator or psych by tomorrow.

I'm so stressed and annoyed about this. It wouldn't be the end of the world to postpone a month or a couple of weeks, but it seems like such a lame reason. I've gone through so much with the tests and clearances and now this?

Anyway, wish me luck! I feel pretty good about the liquid fast, at least, and have stocked up on lots of Protein Powder and Crystal Lite :) the list the nutritionist gave me also included Diet Snapple, strangely enough, so I got a case of that, too. Onward!

That is incredibly frustrating! There was some foot dragging by this office or that during my process as well. I had to stay actively involved to make sure that everything happened and all was finally sent to my insurance company. You sound like you are nearly there. Sending good vibes your way!

That would make me soooo mad! Everyone I have been involved with is like that. But if it was them and their stuff you better believe they would be on top of it. So I call my Surgeons office and bug them whenever I want. Yes I may be a huge pest, yes I am annoying, Yes I have a lot of mundane things to say but it's my body,my money, and my surgery and it's so important to me so POOOO on them. I would say stay on top of them until they get it done. Sorry you have to go thru all that, I know how hard it can be.

thank you! i got some good news yesterday, the surgeon's secretary told me that the claim had already been submitted and that they're waiting on the response...although part of me is like, could that really be true? is she thinking of someone else? haha

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
