26 days since surgery and bored with my food options

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

Its been 26 days since my gastric sleeve and I'm so over this process. I was on Clear liquids for 2 weeks and now I'm in the puree stage until Oct. 11th (4 weeks). From was I've been reading most people are only on puree for 2 weeks but my doctor insist on 4 weeks. I'm running out of food options but all I eat is stage one baby food, mashed potates, grits, cream Soup, broth, Jello and yogurt. I feel like after this I'm never going to want to eat any of this things ever again.

I'm running out of ideas about what to eat and my desire to eat has decreased because my options are so limited.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Lovely,

Can you have yogurt, refried Beans or split pea Soup? I'm on mushies and had 1/2 can of beef vegetable soup blended up in the Magic Bullet for dinner tonight. It was so good.

CoffeeBean,

Thanks for replying. Yes I can have yogurt but I haven't tried refried Beans or split pea soup. I honestly hate soup but I will try some blended Soups with meat to see how that goes. As I think about it corned beef hash is pretty mushy and I like that so I will see the how the texture of that works tomorrow for me as well.

Sorry to hear about the extended puree diet. Use some gravies with your meats in the blender. I found just chewing about 30 to 50 times pretty much purees anything naturally. Try different meats like italian sausage in the blender with some Tomato sauce.

Try an oldie, Deviled Ham and Deviled chicken.

Steam vegetables until real soft

Bananas

soft scrambled eggs

poached eggs

Cottage cheese

Greek Yogurt (higher in protein) than normal yogurt

Mixture of Ricotta cheese, tomato sauce and hamburger

Just go up and down all the aisles of the grocery store you will find more stuff

Look for the recipe for the ricotta bake in the food forum. It's really good.

Do you like fish? Soft white fish is really good. I never worried about tartar sauce calories when I was eating so few calories anyway. I love white fish if I have a good tartar sauce.

Hi Oregondaisy,

Thanks for replying. I'm allegeric to fish, shell fish, sea salt and anything out of the sea. I did find that canned corn beef hash is mushie enough to eat and not too bad going down. I was going to try some canned tuna with a little light mayo but I didn't want to push myself because I hate to vomit. I will certainly try some ricotta cheese.

I was told to eat tuna during mushie stage. I was also on mushies for four weeks and I did get sick of them but I think it helped me decide that my life no longer revolved around food.( and I learned it doesnt matter what I eat it is all about nutrition and feeding my body what it needs not what my head thinks would taste food.) She also said to have applesauce with no added sugar, chicken mashed up like tuna with a little ff mayo.Refried Beans definatly got me through that stage I added a pinch of cheese melted on top. Don't added to much just a pinch.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
