Love your "chin" comment! I too have lost one of my two chins. Actually the first place my husband noticed my weight loss was in my face.

Sunny,

I'm a slow loser too and I was sleeved almost 10 days before you! It's a drag when I don't see the scale moving but I try to concentrate on other NSV's. Like the fact that ONE of my chins is gone (still have 2). lol. and the fact that my clothes fit better than they have in years. I'm sure your body is like mine and it's taking its time to adjust. WE WILL LOSE this weight. And this might sound funny to you, but I found when I was able to start eating, and my calories and carbs went up, that is when the scale moves. Did you join myfitnesspal? If so, look for me on there. My user name is prinxessdeb. Good luck sweetie and keep up the great work!

Hello, I thought I'd chime in on the Isopure. The only way I can drink it is to mix it up sorta like a cocktail by mixing it with crystal lite or another drink mix, then add in some true lemon or true orange and ice. It isn't the best but it is drinkable. So try mixing it up with something you like--juice or crystal light, etc. Until you can get to a taste that is more palatable. Good luck!

You said you tried fat free cottage cheese...at this point you don't need to worry about calories because of the teeny tiny amount of food that you're consuming. I went for the 4% or 2% cottage cheese. I loved the little single serving cups (I could eat about half). I know you said you didn't like yogurt, but have you tried greek yogurt? I didn't really like it at first, but forced myself to keep eating it because it was easy on my stomach and now I love it. If you can do Beans then refried beans are fantastic! Also mashed potatoes (add extra liquid to make them runny and maybe make them with milk to give you more protein).

Also, I forgot to tell you that I am now down 55 lbs. which is more than my 3 month goal. I still have a couple of weeks to go before I hit 3 months. I still have many days were I feel like I'm a very slow loser but if I'm reaching the goals before the goal date, then I think I'm doing pretty good. Hang in there! It will happen for you.

Sorry I haven't changed my ticker or updated my blog with my new weight, just haven't had time.

Hi! I'm now almost 3 months out and I know exactly how you feel but your weight will come off. Please read my post on goals, slow losing, weight loss, and comparing ourselves to others. I hope this helps.

After surgery I could not tolerate the Protein mixes. I used sugar free carnation instant Breakfast and added 1/3 cup of dry milk powder to increase the protein. I know it was higher in carbs that what they recommended but it got my Fluid and protein in. I also added the dry milk mix to chicken broth and added it to Tomato Soup when I was still on the liquid diet. I could not tolerate any juices at first as they were too sweet for me. I worked on fluids and then adding the protein. I also use the sugar free torina syrups to flavor the drinks (i get mine at World Market or in other areas they call them Cost Plus world Market. My weight loss was slow also in the beginning and I had gained 12 lbs with the iv fluids so I had to lose that to get back to even again. Hang in there.

I love to read all the posts this has been quite a journey...my surgeon is strict as heck..I started out 268 07/06/2011 and am at 220 09/12/2011 but he would like for me to be at 210...eating enough Protein is challenging for me...the super sweet nectar did not work...so I love the unflavored Unjury...mix with my yogurt, or in milk to get my liquid...watch the milk intake as it can make you constipated:~(

The one Nectar that I really love is the caribbean cooler great in Water and avail on Amazon for the best price I have seen:~)

Keep up all the great work!!

I second the unjury chicken Soup. I add 16 ounces of Water instead of 8 so it is less salty- and that 16 ounces counts towards fluids! Also, Vitalady.com sells one scoop samples of any of the Protein powders they sell- this helped me find a chocolate powder I liked after surgery since everything I liked before made me gag after. Once I found it I have it every morning mixed with Decaf and ice. I also have an Unjury chicken soup every day (I am four months out) This way I am guaranteed 50 grams of Protein and can try to get some veggies and fruit along with protein with my small meals. My sleeve, Thumbelina, holds 1/4 cup.

I remember well how vivid everything was for the first month or two- it seemed I would never be able to tolerate protein powders, or anything. IT GETS BETTER! I can eat almost anything now (except bread, rice etc.- but wouldn't want to anyway with my low carb regimen). Have faith!

I just bought some Gatorade today that has Protein and is pretty good. It has 16 grams of protein in a 16 ounce bottle. It's not what I would use to get all my protein, but it's a good help for me.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
