Why do complete multis have iron AND calcium?

Recommended Posts

My nut. said i could take a Flintstones complete a day plus Calcium and B12. I asked about Iron and she said no need. So I'm wondering if that's because there's Iron in the Flintstones? It's 18 mg. BUT there's also Calcium in them and I though they weren't supposed to be taken together. Is it because the calcium is so little or what? It's 100 mg. of elemental calcium (whatever that is.)

I'm also having a hard time getting in my calcium citrate chewables. They are horrible. I've tried the Celebrate ones in different flavors. Yuck! Are there any that actually taste decent? When can I start swallowing Citracal Petites?

The Iron is sufficient as long as it's giving you 100% of the daily recommended value. I've never had to supplement with additional Iron on my Vitamin regimen.

As for Calcium being thrown into Vitamins, this is just my guess, and very negative view of certain "vitamins" on the market. Manufacturers need to market/sell their product, if they put more crap on the label it'll sell better. The iron interferes with the calcium absorption so it's not gonna make a hill of Beans on that portion of the Vitamin, and from what I can find on the supplement/ingredient label it appears to be calcium carbonate which isn't readily absorbed anyways.

My program allows us to switch to the petites after a month - I agree the chewables are nasty.

Have you tried the Bariatric Advantage chewable Calcium? ?

They are chewy like candy and I look forward to them everyday. Each one is 250 mg, so I eat 4 a day. I love them and they are NOT NASTY!!

The lemon ones taste like a starburst and the caramel ones are like Werther's caramels and soooo yummy too! They also have chocolate and raspberry, but i have not tried them.

bariatricadvatage.com is the website.

Try some!!

Just thought I'd chime in to say I agree with you on the Bariatric Advantage chewable calcium. I use the raspberry and I love them. I chew 4 a day and usually space them out every 3-4 hours. I'm looking forward to trying the other flavors.

On the other hand the Bariatric Advantage chewable multi Vitamins make me so nauseous and induce dry heaving so I am looking for a better chewable. I didn't realize we could use a Flintstones Vitamin. I have those for my kids so may give that a try.

I bought unflavored Calcium crystals from Bariatric Advantage. My goal is to mix it with Decaf coffee in the morning along with a packet of the nectar cappucino Protein. Hoping that works for me and allows me to kill two birds with one stone.

Indymom,

I'm seriously thinking about purchasing the Bariatric Advantage Calcium Crystals, but would love some feedback first. Are they truly unflavored? I like your idea to add them to coffee! Any advise is welcome. I'm just so darn sick of my current calcium regime. I need something easier. :D

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
