I was sleeved on Tuesday June 28, 2011. I was given Tylenol with Codiene only when I left the hospital. Since then, I have had frequent stomach pains which I think was acid reflux because I have a feeling of something coming up but I never throw up. I called my doctor this morning since I had an awful night and couldn't sleep with all the reflex going on. I didn't have it before the surgery and now It seems like every hour on the hour today, I have that feeling. I am still on Clear Liquids until tomorrow which I start on full liquids. My doc prescribed the Nexium this morning so I'm going to take it today, hopefully it goes away. Has anyone had these acid reflex problems and then started taking this med and went away?

I have not had the problem that you're having but I was prescribed the Nexium granule and have had no acid reflux problems. I've been taking them since 2 days after surgery and I am 9 days post op. If you were prescribed the granule, you should poor a pack into 1 tablespoon of Water, stir ,and let it sit for 3-4 minutes until it gels. Then stir it again. I can't stand the texture or the taste so I then mix it with about an ounce of grape juice. It goes down smoothly.

I know I didn't answer all your questions but I hope it helps a little. :)

Nexium is a MIRACLE PILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are having acid issues, this WILL solve them. I would never be without the purple pill! It is a lifesaver. I have taken it for 7 years and probably always will!!

I promise you WILL feel better when you take it. It will take a while to take effect, as it is time released, but take it daily and you will be fine! ;)

Thanks...I have reading a bunch of postings here and was rather concerned that I was prescribed an acid reflex pill cause the majority of the people were prescribed one fresh out of the hospital and I wasn't. Thanks for the response, I appreciate it, it did help. Thanks again.

I'm on Nexium twice a day (20 mg each) and for a while it was better. The last few days it's been hell. Even to the point of the acid reflux choking me and waking me up and when I inhaled it felt like my lungs were on fire. I can't wait for this stage to be over.

I tried the Nexium yesterday (40mg) and basically opened the capsule put it in Water and drank it.....all my troubles went away...Thank God for Nexium....OMG, the acid reflux was terrible and today nothing at all. I wonder why my doctor didn't prescribe this right out of the hospital. It would have made those 3 days better for me. Thanks for all the replies.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
