Well I was "sleeved" on Tues, June 28, 2011. I am doing okay but the gas (due to the pumping of the stomach) was a bad combination with having your stomach removed. I am not as gassy today. I couldn't really drink anything Wed and Thursday although I did consume some liquids. Today, I am alot better and have had liquids more than yesterday. The only problem is that my stomach is always "growling" like I'm hungry but I'm not. My doctor's office said that not to get confused that I'm hungry but it's simply my new stomach trying to digest what I'm drinking. Sometimes, I won't have a drink at all for an hour and I feel like indigestion, somethings just come up, I don't throw up but I feel a sensation of something coming up. I haven't thrown up but these indigestion spells are terrible. I didn't have indigestion before so I don't know what this is. sleeping is hard but I've managed to get some on the recliner.

Congratulations on getting the sleeve. Focus on sipping your liquids and make sure you get in as much as you can as that will help. Walking will also help with the gas pains. It will get better.

For liquids, I have frozen different flavors of sugar free Wylers drinks, grape, cherry, lemonade etc..put in in an ice tray and eat them frozen. I have managed to stay hydrated this way. It's like eating a slushie and it tastes great.

It helps to know others who have done this and can give advice and different ideas on how to be creative with these strict diet's the first couple of weeks. She said that everything will get better and the results are great. In the end, it'll be worth it. Your body will adjust, it's just going through a bunch of changes right now. Once it adjusts, it'll get better.

I had that same weird growling. It does it now, but MUCH less at day 10. I also had this weird noise, not quite burp, but a long weird thing as warm liquids were going down my throat. It was like it was going down and air was coming up, but not a burp. My kids LOVED those several days at the dinner table. They had great fun. ;)

Like I said, I might notice it once per day now, it's not nearly as bad as it was.

Hang in there, it gets better every day for me :)

Hi,

I was "sleeved on Monday, June 27th, and I've been doing pretty well. A little gassy but not too bad. No indigestion, but my doc put me on prilosec desolvables right out of the shoot. He said the indigestion is part of it ...you might want to call your doc. My tummy rumbles after I put anything in it, even water! I'm not too interested in food unless my family is eating then I feel kind of hungry. I can't wait until this first two weeks is over because this clear liquid diet is a bummer. I can't wait for pureed soup!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
