Had my sleeve done yesterday. I did really well after surgery with little pain and no nausea. Of course it was a rough night and I got little sleep. Today I started Clear Liquids. Popsicles and Jello go down well. But the liquids hurt the second they hit my stomach . And I am so bloated today that i feel like I am 9months pregnant. Is this normal?

Totally normal. they fill you with gas to see the surgical area, they fill you fluids via iv and you had trauma to the stomach area.

Yep, normal. I couldn't see my feet for about a week my stomach was out so far, not that I had such a good view before surgery, but I could spot my toes...

Thanks for your responses. Makes me feel better. I expected to feel this way right after surgery and didn't . Then, this evening I am so painfully bloated with the pain going straight through to my back. I'm sure it's just the gas.

It was the same for me. My stomach was so swollen that I couldn't bend and yes I felt like I was pregnant too. As far as the liquids go, try hot vs. cold. To this day, really cold Water feels like a brick when it hits my stomach. Not other liquids, just water. It takes a while for the swelling and bloating to go away. Don't panic either if you gain a few pounds while so swollen. That is normal too. On day 4 after my surgery, I was up 26 lbs. I totally freaked, lol. When the swelling started going down, so did the weight. We are all different, some ppl don't swell much and lose right away. Hang in there and be assured that if you follow your plan as given by your doctor, you'll lose weight and feel better soon.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
